Only the motor cover is stainless steel. The knife and cutting plates are carbon steel. The rest of the grinder parts are cast aluminum except for the food tray which is stamped aluminum. The first time I used it was to regrind some coarse ground beef to fine. It was only one pound bit it took about 10 minutes. Then I had bought 2 eye round roasts. I sliced these into strips that would easily fit down the throat. This little guy struggled to get the job done. The next time was to again regrind coarse ground beef to fine. It almost would not push the meat through the cutting plate. I do not recommend this machine.
