I needed a simple scientific calculator for school that doesn’t graph, and the Casio FX 260 Solar II has been perfect. It’s reliable, solar-powered, and has never died on me. Easy to use and exactly what I needed for class.

I love the fact that this calculator is solar powered. Since you are not likely to use this in the dark it is very convenient to never have to be concerned about whether or not the battery is charged. i have had one of these for quite a few years and it has never failed yet. The only drawback for me is that I used calculators from HP with Reverse Polish Notation rather than algebraic entry for over 40 years and it takes a lot of getting used to. But I know most people don't have that issue so this is a really good calculator for not much money.

Works great. Does not need much light to work. Better than another solar calculator i have that requires more light to work.

I hate using awful cellphone calculators- this real calculator does the job. The fractions function is very helpful for construction projects. The price is low enough I bought two- one for the house, the other for the shop.

Received this calculator today. Seems to work fine. Keys are easy to read and there are several modes of operation , which, without the manual, one would have to just memorize. I do note that the Amazon "Product Information" is either misleading or just plain NOT CORRECT. Product Info says that 2 AA batteries come with this calculator, implying, I thought, that the solar cells charge an internal battery. Not so, unfortuately. So no light, no calculations. How long would it work when the light is low? Nobody seems to state anything about this most important "spec". Also, the Amazon Product Info says it's made in China, but the box containing the calculator I got says its made in Thailand, with Casio being a Japanese company.. Still it's a pretty decent calculator,especially for the price.

I had a fx-995 "back in the day," and really enjoyed it. That calculator was super flat, and I frequently stored it in my textbook, yet its functionality took me through Algebra and into Pre-Calculus. I would like to get a new one, but Casio discontinued it a long time ago, and the eBay listings are asking more than I'm willing to pay. This calculator is essentially the same thing "under the hood," but in a more traditional calculator format: plastic shell with plastic buttons (and a squishy membrane under the buttons). I like having the same functionality that I essentially grew up with, but this one is shaped differently (thicker, but also a smaller footprint), which kinda ruins the nostalgia factor. The back as well as the slip-case is beige, which is something else that took some getting used to. I did find an Android app that mimics the fx-995 very well, but it's not supported on my new phone, which was quite a bummer. So I got this to fill the gap. It does the job quite well... I just miss my old calculator... and my age is showing.
