Once a 5-Star Product. Now a 1-Star Product. Not Heat Resistant After All! So Disappointed!
UPDATE 7/26/18: I am reducing my 5-star review to a 1-star review. After a very short time of use, this once-beloved kettle developed a crack due to stovetop heat. I really, REALLY loved this item and babied it with the utmost care. But it was to no avail. It simply didn't stand up to stovetop use in the long run and after it cracked, I threw it away. Needless to say, it worked perfectly until my 30-day return period expired, and then it broke. :-(I am not going to replace this. I hate boiling my water in a metal kettle (even stainless steel), and all of the glass ones are lightweight, fragile, and not really stovetop-safe. So now I am boiling water in 5-liter Visions Cookware Dutch Oven (which is heavy, sturdy, and with care will stand up to stovetop use for decades and decades and decades: Visions 5L Round Dutch Oven With Glass Lid / Cover It isn't quite as convenient, but it works, will last a lifetime, and gives me the GLASS boiled water I want for my coffee, tea, and soups.I'm still going to look for a genuine, glass teakettle, but I don't know if a heavy, good quality one exists. Just know that this product doesn't fit the bill at all.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I LOVE this glass kettle! It is so great to be able to make tea in a stovetop-safe vessel. I can not only boil my water in this pot, but I can also brew the tea and serve it.The lid is especially nice because it has a strainer that allows the liquid to pass through while keeping the tea leaves in the pot.AND I'm so happy that I can boil more than 1/2 gallon at a time so I can brew enough tea for my whole family, or even for a party! I had the worst time finding a kettle that could accommodate large quantities of boiling water. The glass isn't heavy so I treat it with care. It is heavier than the thin glass in a normal coffee press, but still relatively thin and if used carelessly, I feel that it could easily break.IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ:There are a few things that you should be aware of before purchasing this product. When boiling water or tea, the shape of the kettle causes liquids to boil in an exceptionally violent way, and much of the water splashes out. So be sure to follow these three safety precautions. Many people feel that the best tea is made when the water is not quite at the boiling point, but most of us allow the water to reach a full boil. So please do these things while the kettle is on the stovetop heat:1. USE THE LID WHILE BOILING. Always put the lid on to boil water because water splashes out of the kettle when it is boiling. Since I cook on a gas stove, it puts the fire out on the burner and pretty soon the house smells of gas - SO WITH A GAS STOVE, IT IS DANGEROUS TO BOIL WATER WITHOUT THE LID. The first time this happened to me, the whole house smelled of gas before I realized that the fire had gone out. We had to open all windows and doors to air the house out. Thankfully it is summer-time, and we were able to do it without much discomfort.2. STAY IN THE ROOM WHILE BOILING. And even with the lid, NEVER leave the room while using this kettle on a gas stove, because water can still splash out of the vent spout. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BE CLOSE BY SO THAT YOU ARE AWARE OF WHEN THE WATER STARTS TO BOIL. This is NOT a "set and forget" appliance and it has no whistle, so always stay close by while heating your water. Remove the kettle from the stovetop heat as soon as the liquid boils. Better yet, do not allow it to come to a full boil at all - just remove it when you see that boiling is imminent.3. ALWAYS TURN THE LID TO VENT SO THAT THE BUILDING HEAT AND PRESSURE CAN ESCAPE FROM THE KETTLE. This kettle has a tight lid, so if you don't turn it to allow venting, the pressure from heat and expanding air can build up resulting in the possibility of the glass breaking during use. I think the chances of this are remote because the seal is flexible, but the possibility is there, so during boiling, make sure the lid is turned to allow steam to escape. I've read a few reviews where people have had their kettles break while on the stovetop, and I suspect this might be the cause. So with a few precautions, this is the best kettle I've ever used. It is beautiful, and the glass is non-toxic and my tea has no metallic aftertaste.Highly Recommended!

Great to keep cold water in the fridge
After too many years of plastic containers tasting, well, plastic-y when I left water in the fridge, I finally caved and purchased a glass pitcher to use instead. This one looked aesthetically pleasing with gentle curves and a flat base to stay in place while other food is jostled around it. The lid has a closed position, a full open position, and an I don't want to drink the ice cubes, leave them in the pitcher position. I appreciate versatility!I don't plan to use it hot - I have an electric kettle for that - as thermal shock is a risk even with glass labeled borosilicate. For cold water, though, it looks nice and will do the job well while being easily cleanable.

Great for making iced tea!
I love making iced tea and at first when I saw this there was no way it could store 70 oz, but it certainly did.I remember people were saying don't put boiling water in the pitcher because the glass might crack, but it has not happened yet.I haven't had issues with it and I like the two separate openings for the spiller. My only complaint, and this is minor, is that it doesn't have a spillproof mechanism for the spiller like I've seen for some. So while it spills fine, the liquid tends to drip around to the outside of the pitcher after use.

Perfect height for refrigerator
Great size - love that it’s a little shorter than most pitchers so it fits well in the refrigerator. Glass is quite thin so be careful heating/cooling too quickly. I use it for brewed tea that I cool for iced tea and I always let it sit out on the counter for awhile and cool a bit before popping in the refrigerator. I haven’t had any issues but the glass is so thin I worry it could crack if cooler too fast.

Love this glass pitcher!
Love this pitcher!! I can put hot liquid in it when it is cold out of the fridge to make ice tea and put it back in and no cracking. The lid makes a tight seal, only bad thing is the side with the large pour opening does dribble, but turn it around to the side with the little holes no dribbles, problem solved!! It is the perfect size to fit on the lower shelf.

I like it!
I have been looking for an ice tea pitcher that you can pour boiling water over the tea bag, and I am happy with this one so far. The glass is fairly thick, so hopefully won’t break the way a previous one did. Like the stainless steel lid too.

Just what I wanted
OK. I knew that I wanted a glass fusion pitcher and after viewing all of the available pitchers on Amazon, I chose this one. I am delighted! It holds just the right amount of water, not too little. And, it has a hardy glass handle. Also, I figured out that it was not necessary to isolate the fruits or vegetables in a separate section, but only have a proper strainer near the spout. That's when I discovered this adorably, plump shaped pitcher. IT WORKS GREAT!! Highly recommended.

Excellent second distiller catch pitcher
Excellent quality and I use this with my mega home stainless distiller as a temporary catch pitcher. It barely fits underneath the filter but it works. It doesn't hold as much, so I only use it while I empty the gallon picture so I can refrigerate the water before it finishes the full gallon. The pitcher has an open pour in the lid and a strainer poor in the lid. I thonk this was a great buy.Robin
