BaBylissPRO Porcelain Ceramic Straightening Iron

I just received my BaByliss Pro flat iron and I'm really impressed with it. It straightened my thick hair so well, and the sleek, straight style lasted until my next shampoo. The temperature dial was easy to use and it gives you lots of control over how much heat you want to use. It goes up past the highest temperature on a Chi, so it should work on even hair that is really hard to work with. It's comfortable in your hand, and the controls are well designed so you won't accidentally turn it off or change your temperature setting. I'll have to follow up this initial review after I've used it for a while to see how the product holds up over time. For now, I'd say that it's a very good flat iron for a really reasonable price!**12/13/12 - I still love this flat iron, it works very well and I like that there is a fairly wide range of temperatures to choose from. This is the straight iron you want if your naturaly hair is thick and curly. I have other BaByliss Pro irons and they are OK, but I'm truly impressed with the performance of this one.The enclosed directions give guidelines to heat settings based upon your hair type, and they seem fairly accurate. The directions also advise ironing as close to your scalp as possible (*not too close or you'll burn it...), and taking small sections at a time and letting them cool prior to combing or brushing your hair.There's an on/off switch and manual dial adjustment for the heat setting. The cord is on a swivel and it's of a generous length. The 1" porcelain plates are smooth, and will remain that way with care.I found that using TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Protective Spray 8 fl oz (236 ml) as I dry my hair, and then again as I am using this iron, gives me excellent results! Soft, straight, smooth and shiny, without any stiffness or stickiness. A great combination of heat protection and performance.I highly recommend this iron for all hair types, but especially for those with thick wavy or curly hair who want a smooth option.

I was afraid to purchase due to the many reviews stating they received counterfeits. I decided to purchase directly from Amazon and not a third party seller just to reduce my chances. Mine is definitely the real deal and it works like a charm.I purchased this particular model due to my hairdresser's raving reviews. I have been a long-time user of the original Chi (7 years!) but my hair was never this straight and smooth. This BaByliss gets my hair STRAIGHT and smooth and shiny and I've received tons of compliments. My Chi never got my hair this straight. I have course, curly hair. The Chi was great and durable but didn't get as hot as the BaByliss (something like 370F vs 450F). The heat makes all the difference. And the price is less than half of the Chi. Definitely will buy again as a gift, back-up iron, etc.

I researched new flat irons for weeks before my $100 Wigo died after only a few years (don't buy one of those). This flat iron had really good reviews and the few 3 star reviews it had weren't really all that bad.The design is sleek and it seems solid and well made. The recommended temperature range for my type hair (fine) was too low, so when I first tried the recommended heat setting of 230 degrees or so, it didn't work. Once I bumped up the temperature to 400 degrees, it worked like a charm.This flat iron heats up fast and my hair did not snag on it like it did with my Wigo. I felt the price was very reasonable too.I love this flat iron and would recommend it.One star knocked off for the packaging...its totally unnecessary to tie strap the flat iron into the moulded plastic package and then in another box. I had difficulty cutting the tie straps and ended up scratching the flat iron because I had to squeeze my scissors in between the tie strap and the flat iron.

This review is for the BaByliss Pro. I am so incredibly happy with the purchase.I have been looking for the perfect straighter for years now, and I finally found the one. It is light, and the porcelain plates glide smoothly on my hair, leaving my hair shiny and smooth.After plugging it in, push the button and select desired heat level, I usually keep in somewhere in the middle, since I have thin hair. It heats within seconds and you can use almost immediately.I recommend using it after drying your hair, apply any kind of heat protectant that you prefer. Even without it the results are wonderful. After applying the protectant, style your hair whatever way you prefer, I use a round brush, brushing away from my scalp and follow it with the straightner, then brushing again. It leaves no feizz, no static and looks smooth. It also works great if you would like a little curl.I have had it now for 2 years, and it works just as great as it did the day I opened it out of the box. I have recommended it to all of my friends and family looking for a good, dependable, well made straightner.
