I had this drive for couple of weeks now and it works perfectly and as described in the listing.The drive comes with youtube video of installation and I recommend also checking the vendor website for pdf with backup and restore instructions. I used timemachine to backup to external USB drive, replaced the original drive and then restored from USB to the new. I got OS installed and all my data restored to the new drive with no loss of any of my files.

The SSD works great. My only advice is to have your own screwdriver set. The screwdrivers that were supplied were slipping which would've stripped a screw if I kept trying to use them. The screws should come out very easily when the screwdriver fits correctly. Don't force it if it's slipping. Use one that fits better.

I have used the product for over a year now and all I can say that it has worked well for me. Thanks to the DIY kit that ships with the product I was able to replace the 256GB disk with this 1TB disk.

It works well and provides me the storage I need. But, the performance speed is not as fast as the original 128GB drive. The read/write speed on this 480GB is only about 1500/1900 MB/s. Maybe the 1TB might have a better performance.

The drive fit perfectly into my 2017 MacBook Pro. Only suggestion that I would give has less to do with the drive then it does with Apple software. The drive does not come with a recovery partition like the OEM but that makes sense when they don’t know what exact system this will be installed in. I would recommend either using a TimeMachine backup or using a USB boot device with the installer on it for the OS you want to install. This makes getting you system up and running a lot easier but the drive itself worked like a charm! As a note, I was not offered a promotion for my review. I was just very happy with the new drive and wanted to let others know. I could not get the OS to install using the Option+Command+R for Recovery so I also wanted others doing this themselves to know about using the USB boot method.

Consequently, your device won't enter these modes as seamlessly as with Apple's Original OEM SSD.2. Power Consumption Discrepancy:The 2TB OWC Aura NT Pro exhibits significantly higher power usage compared to Apple's Original OEM 1TB SSD. In my tests, it consumed 10 times more power than OEM products, possibly linked to the firmware deficiency.3. Performance per Watt:The elevated power consumption (0.85 to 3W) results in a disappointing performance per watt. While the OWC Aura NT Pro offers 550MB write and 900MB read, Apple's OEM 1TB SSD outperforms with a higher 966MB write and 1355MB read, consuming less power (0.1 to 1.8W). Not as mentioned on the OWC website or datasheet.4. Battery Drain:Notably, the OWC Aura NT Pro causes substantial battery drain, even when the MacBook lid is closed or manual sleep/hibernate modes are initiated. Overnight, I observed a drastic drop from 100% to 63%, despite having no open apps. Customer support incorrectly attributes this to a damaged or replacement-worthy battery, a claim contradicted by my new battery's normal health (153 cycles).5. Customer and Technical Support:OWC's customer and technical support have proven unsatisfactory, with delayed email responses and a lack of a definitive resolution to reported issues.Conclusion:Considering these significant drawbacks, I strongly recommend choosing the original Apple SSD upgrade from BeetsTech.com. Their product ensures compatibility, comes with a lifetime warranty, and offers responsive customer support. There ir nothing better than a OWC memory or hard drive for your mac

Those who still own the MacBook Pro 2017 in good condition, but disappointed about general limitations, this can open up the hidden efficiency of the old MacBook Pro 2017 with the 16GB memory model (Not 8GB model).

What a fantastic upgrade! The concept of Apple selling a MacBook Pro in 2018 for around $2000 with only 120GB was absurd, especially considering their operating system starts with 50GB and ends up using 70GB or more. Then enters OWC with their solution. The installation was easy, thanks to detailed instructions. The actual installation, excluding the time machine backup and restore, took me no more than 2 hours. The 2TB SSD seems just as fast as the original, albeit I didn't run any tests. It's absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!
