Excellent read to understand the book of Philippians in a practical way. Worth five stars. After reading this book, the reader can apply the information to their everyday lives. Thank you Joyce Meyer!

Joyce digs deep down into the true meaning of this book of the bible and gives it to us in ways we can apply to every day life. There are points she brings out that fit every situation.

Meyer's book is more of a devotional exploration of the major teachings in Philippians than it is a study. Her emphasis is not increasing knowledge. It is not a verse by verse study. Meyer encourages readers to live in the power of the gospel, to live more Christlike. She shares her inspiring thoughts on the truths found within the book.I appreciate her insights, such as those from Paul's prayer (1:9-11). We are encouraged to pray for spiritual insights and blessing when in a difficult situation rather than just asking God to change those circumstances. Meyer suggests we focus on what God is doing in the inner man rather than on outer circumstances. Another insight is on the meaning of a surrendered will, using Paul as an example. Another is why living in unity is important and what that really means.I like how Meyer clarifies Phil. 4:13, often taken out of context. We can do what God has given us to do, not everything we decide to do.This book would make a good devotional reading. There are short sections within each chapter that are good for daily readings. There are periodic questions for reflection as well. Meyer's work is a good reminder that, like Paul, we are to focus “on things that bring us joy rather than things that steal it.” (63/270)I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. Joyce Meyer's Biblical Study series is as beautiful inside as it is on the covers. In Philippians by Joyce Meyer she shares how Philippians is one of her favorite epistles because it encouraged believers in the early church as well as addressing believers today. I have to agree as it is one of my favorite books as well.Philippians: A Biblical Study starts with an introduction by Meyer on how to study the book of Philippians using this book. She also has an introduction to the book that tells about the book and also lists the key truths in this book of the Bible. There are 14 chapters in this Bible study book that cover the four chapters of Philippians in depth. Not only does Meyer take the reader through the book verse by verse, but she also has Personal Reflection questions with room to journal about the question.I like these in depth study books because Meyer goes through the Bible books so thoroughly and this book in Philippians is as well done as the rest in the series. The study notes are thorough. She has places to write out answers to the reflective questions, which I like. However, the books are so pretty, as well as nicely bound, that I prefer to journal my answers in a separate journal. If you are a Joyce Meyer fan and like her Bible studies, you will want to get this latest edition in Philippians.I received a copy of this book from the publisher. The reader will get more out of the book, and grow spiritually if they look up the Scripture verses, answer the questions, and ponder the day's reading.I appreciate that the study begins with historical information. Also, the Philippians study is easy to read and understand.
