Is $32 the usual price for the mesquite seasoning and if so what makes it cost so much more than other Grill Mates flavors? Is it that much better?

The seasoning is very good. I use it to make marinades for meats on the grill. In the past it has sold for half this price. Use "honey" to check.

While these instructions are not on the packaging, below is a suggest marinade recipe using Grill Mates Mesquite Seasoning. ~ Erica Mesquite Lime Chicken: Mix 1/4 cup fresh lime juice, 3 tbsp. Mesquite Seasoning, and 2 tbsp. each oil and honey. Place 1 1/2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breast halves in large resealable plastic bag or glass dish. Add marinade; turn to coat well. Refrigerate 15 minutes or longer for extra flavor. Remove chicken from marinade. Discard any remaining marinade. Grill chicken over medium heat 6 to 8 minutes per side or until cooked through, turning frequently. For Chicken Club Sandwiches, serve grilled chicken on toasted buns with Cheddar cheese, cooked bacon, tomato, lettuce and ranch dressing. Makes 6 servings.
