Q: why are people saying 'the bar' comes in 3 pieces? is it 'the bar'...or is it 'the neck-piece and handles' that have to be assembled?

Assembly is required for the SSB. It is shipped in a box that contains main 3 pieces. You will eventually put plates on the left and right pieces. The third piece is the yoke which you put on your shoulders. Before using the SSB you must connect the left and right pieces to the 3rd piece (i.e., the yoke).

Q: What is the length of the bar between the two curve points?

Don't buy it the handles don't line up it's pretty crappy. One handle is higher than the other makes it feel unbalanced
