Aces of Jagdgeschwader 3 'Udet' (Aircraft of the Aces, 116)

This volume is essentially just a continuous litany of JG 3's actions vs. the various Allied airforces, and soon overwhelms one with an endless list of victory claims, with very little in the way of personal accounts.To me, it's not compelling, exciting, or even insightful; just a dry listing of numbers than left me cold.Osprey should have done a history of JG 3, as in their Aviation Elite Series; one could then have a much better sense of this fighter wing's war, and not just a list of aces.For the price, a book worth purchasing for serious Jagdwaffe enthusiasts; otherwise, I cannot recommend it to more general readers.

After reading this book the reader will know the entire history of this unit from start to finish. Unit personnel are covered as well as battles and unit movements to different theaters. I have read all the German air force unit books released from Osprey publishing and have been pleased after reading each one. The pictures and colored drawing are a plus. This unit is also one of the few units that had the German heavy attack units in it.

Can't say enough about any book by John Weal, every one a five star. Even if you have other books on Jg 3 you'll find new information in this one.

Wanted to see how things were in the other side, where the bombs fell.I just think that war is an idiotic thing.

As expected from Osprey Series; another good one for any aviation history buff. Good presentation, plentiful photos, real historical facts.

Ich sammele diese Serie(n) und kann mich stundenlang von einem Buch zum anderen hangeln - sehr zum Leidwesen meiner Frau muß man mich nicht bespaßen. Mein "SchoolEnglishYouKnow" ist für die Bewältigung des Lesestoffes so ziemlich ausreichend und man lernt dabei, nur für manche Vokabeln muß man halt die "google" anwerfen. Die Wiedergabe der Fotos ist manchmal ein wenig lütt im Format, aber das ist der Größe der Bücher als "etwas größer als das iPad Air2" geschuldet. Wie gesagt, stundenlang ... und daher kann ich keine unvoreingenommene Rezension schreiben ...

War schon überfällig, die Chronik des JG 3. bei Osprey. Gut rechachiert, viele seltene Fotos, einige zum ersten Mal veröffentlicht. Buch dem Fachpublikum sehr zu empfehlen.

Valuable addition to the library of any enthusiast of WW2 aviation history. Well researched and illustrated. Useful for modellers also.
