Perfect for Frosting!
Love how this turned out as buttercream on my sourdough birthday cake! I mixed up grass fed butter, vanilla, whipping cream, and a bag of this. SO GOOD. Resembles the flavor of maple long-john donut frosting with a caramel twist. We loved it. Repurchasing right now since my husband’s birthday is next month! Finally a product we can consume!

A light maple flavor. Very fine granules not as white powdered sugar.
Maple sugar is something I have always wanted to try but this is the first time I have done so.What this is:Powdered maple sugar. 11.25 ounces. Made in a gluten free and nut free facility. It is made from pure maple syrup. No other ingredients. It is made in Ohio.To try it out:I open the bag and smell the sugar. It smells sweet and like maple syrup. To look at it, this isn't like white powdered sugar where it is fluffy like. This is very fine granules. Almost a powder but not quite a powder. It is looks like toasted fine granule sugar. To taste it out of the bag, it has a mild flavor of maple. It is sweet. Dissolves instantly in my mouth.Since it is powdered sugar, I decided to try it out as powdered sugar. I decided to make a glaze using a little melted butter and adding enough sugar to get the consistency I wanted.Does this make a glaze as regular white powdered sugar would? No.First, the glaze is brown. Not that this is an issue, but if one is looking for a white glaze, this isn't going to work.I started with a runny glaze and then kept adding this maple sugar until it was firmer. I feel it was better as a runnier glaze than a firmer glaze. The firmer glaze that I made does firm up nicely, but wasn't smooth when I mixed it together. To taste it, I can taste the grittiness of the very fine granules. It doesn't seem to melt like others. At the time of this review, I don't have time to make brownies and test it out this way. There is a recipe on the back for maple sugar cookies using rice flour, tapioca starch, potato starch and xanthan gum. It is different than baking I do in my house so I an unable to try out the recipe. It does taste great as a sweetener in tea. Dissolves very easily. How would I use this going forward? I would definitely use it as a sweetener for teas and coffees. I want to try it in brownies with the understanding that I will weigh out the sugar in grams equal to the white sugar I normally use. I will probably not use it as a glaze unless the color would compliment the baked good I am making.I debated on 4 or 5 stars. It is a tasty mild tasing maple sugar. It was fun to try. For my personal use, I prefer just regular sugar and adding a touch of maple syrup for flavor.

A special ingredient
Powdered maple syrup is not as fine and powdery as regular powdered sugar, but it makes the best frosting. This stuff with softened butter is amazing as cookie frosting or fudge, mixes together fast and has a wonderful maple flavor. It’s great on pancakes, too.

This is goooood!
Why use plain sugar when you can have some maple flavor? I originally ordered this to use in frosting - normal powder sugar tastes gross to me. Unfortunately it is too gritty to make frosting but I've been using it in pretty much everything else I make!
