Ancient Minerals Magnesium Lotion – Zechstein Magnesium Chloride Cream with Shea Butter, Organic Oils & Hyaluronic Acid for Skin Hydration, Non-Greasy Body Lotion, 5oz

This is my third time reordering this product. I’ve been using Ancient Minerals Magnesium Lotion for a while now, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best magnesium products I’ve tried. The texture is smooth and absorbs quickly without feeling greasy, making it perfect for daily use.What truly sets this lotion apart is its effectiveness. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in relief of joint pain. It also helps with sleep—just a small amount before bed on the bottom of my feet or where I have any aches and/or pains, and I wake up feeling more rested. Plus, the added skin-nourishing ingredients leave my skin feeling soft and hydrated.I have had no problems with the pump or the design. Each bottle lasts me at least a couple of months or more since only one dollop will do the trick.

I usually take magnesium at night to help me fall asleep. I thought I would give this a try after reading about it. It does help relieve pain, and it also --for me---provides a nice, drowsy-relaxed feeling. I like taking magnesium so there is no hangover effect the next morning so I can still wake up for work with no problems. Initially, I was having what I guess was restless-leg issues. Just an uncomfortable feeling in my legs/ calves where they sort of twitch and just won't relax to let you sleep. One pump of this spread on both calves solved that problem COMPLETELY. I put it on other areas like if my hip or lower back is aching, and it helps me fall asleep by relieving the pain in that area. Also, works great if you over-did it from exercise so have achy muscles. I have used it on my neck, shoulders, upper arms, trigger thumb joint pain, low back, hip, legs and feet. No problems whatsoever----besides the drowsiness effect on me. (I would say you could probably gauge if you will feel drowsy/sleepy vs. just relaxed and pain-free based on the effect any other magnesium supplement you have tried has affected you. I just happen to be super-sensitive to it.)I recently bought this product that also contains MSM after reading about the pain relieving effects of MSM on joints. My foot had started hurting mainly under the big toe after wearing some new shoes and doing a lot of walking that day. Anyway, using the cream has also been helpful in that regard, putting it on at night (again because it happens to cause me drowsiness).This does have a rust smell because it is a mineral. I typically wear vinyl or nitrile latex-free examination-type gloves to apply the cream since I do not want that smell on my hands. The smell does go away after a while if you do not want to use gloves. ( Also, I re-use the gloves.)Also, I have learned that this product with just the magnesium lotion is a bit stickier and smellier than the one which contains MSM, but that is because the one with MSM has 25mg magnesium per pump whereas this product contains only magnesium at 40mg per pump. Both lotions do absorb, but this one, at first, will have a bit of a sticky feel. The stickiness and odor both go away after maybe 10 minutes.Additionally, it is true this lotion does not have any effect on your bowel movements. Some can take magnesium during the day with no problems, but this magnesium though a lotion, affects me just like a pill supplement in that it causes me to feel drowsy. (Again, I only add this because I am super-sensitive and want to make sure anybody who is sensitive is aware you might not want to use this for the first time right before going to work. Also, even if you are sensitive to a magnesium-drowsy effect, it may not create that feeling for you with only one pump. )Bottom line: I think this is a great alternative to taking NSAIDs on a consistent basis which I have read is not good for the liver or stomach lining over time.

The dispenser doesn’t function. Once depressed it does not recoil - it stays in depressed position. I read you need to “prime the pump” - I tried that. I was able to get less than a pea sized amount of lotion out by pumping 50-60 times. Very frustrating. I had to saw the top off to get to the lotion. Once I got to the lotion - I am happy with it. I do feel that it helps my leg pains and cramps. But will not buy again because of the dispenser. I might try the gel that appears to have a different dispenser. Had to reduce a star for dispenser flaw. I did read reviews that others have had same issue.

The product is extremely effective. This was my second order. But . . . the pump on the second order doesn’t work. Amazon will not replace it or refund the money to me so I’m stuck with an expensive paperweight that is useless to me. If you order it and it works you should be pleased with it. If it doesn’t work you are stuck with the expense

I have been using this product for years, and could not be happier with the results that I get every time I need to use it. It can be used for muscle cramps anywhere on your body, for tension in your shoulders, neck and back, menstrual cramps, just about any pain or discomfort that you may experience. I also have used it on my calves and hamstrings before and after hiking or walks.This product is an excellent alternative to taking any type of pain relief medication, because you put it right on the area of your body experiencing the pain. I start to feel relief within minutes of applying it, and I can feel my muscles relaxing, which helps release the tension elsewhere in my body.I prefer the fragrance free option. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t stain or feel greasy. I keep a bottle at work and one on my nightstand. I sometimes just apply it to my neck and shoulders before I go to bed to help me relax and fall asleep more quickly.

This magnesium cream truly works wonders for my restless leg symptoms—it’s been a game-changer for me, which is why I’ve continued to reorder. However, the packaging leaves a lot to be desired. This is my third time purchasing, and unfortunately, this bottle is the worst yet.With my last two bottles, the pump was finicky but eventually worked with some effort. This time, no matter what I try, the pump is completely non-functional. The cream just won’t come out. What’s even more frustrating is that the bottle is designed in such a way that I can’t remove the top to access the product directly—it’s entirely sealed. I’ve even attempted to dismantle the pump, but there’s simply no way to get to the cream without it.It’s incredibly disappointing to have a great product rendered unusable by poor packaging. I really hope the company reconsiders the design because the cream itself is excellent, especially for those dealing with restless leg syndrome.
