Great little machine — efficient, compact, and easy to use
I purchased this on February 11, 2025, and wrote this review on March 23, 2025. I use this printer regularly for work events and it’s been a game-changer. It’s fast, compact, and super easy to set up. The plug-and-label feature saves time during tight schedules, and the ability to print in both black and red adds a professional touch for badges and signage. It handles both pre-sized and continuous labels flawlessly, with no jamming issues.

straightforward, nice quality labels
I returned another label printer and got this one, and I am glad I did. This label printer is very easy to use. In the Editor Lite mode, you don't even need to download any drivers - you can just create your labels on your laptop, print, and boom you're done. That's all I need - I just need to print decent quality envelope labels for a small business. This printer is also cute. My kids think it looks like a T-rex, so we might nickname it Dino or Rexi. :)

Great Printer for the Price - QL-800
From reading some of the reviews, I was under the impression that it could print the regular USPS 4"x6" labels, however, it does not. Rather it prints labels with the maximum width of 2.4"x(desired length). Make sure if you are purchasing this printer that your source from which you purchase your shipping labels (Paypal, eBay, Shopify, etc.) allows you to change the size in which you print your labels. The printer requires the shipping label setting to be set to 2.3"x7.5" for USPS shipping labels. I have not tried using it to print FedEx or UPS labels, but I imagine it is similar to USPS labels. It is possible to print the larger style label, but what this printer will do is print the different parts of the label on separate strips, then you have to cut and piece it together like a puzzle, which in my opinion would be a nightmare being that if you mess up in aligning the label which is a sticker, then you would have to print and start all over. So the 2.3"x7.5" label is the way to go. Keep in mind, if the package you are shipping is not long enough to accommodate the 7.5" long label then you will need to either cut the label and make it fit or just purchase a different label maker entirely. Overall, this printer is well made and does the job.

disk needed.
The printer will not communicate with the computer. I have tried on three different Computers with no luck.seller should of furnish a disk because the program is too large to download. if one of the drivers isskip the printer will not work. printer has become a 109 dollar ornament.

For mobile usage: Turn OFF 'Editor Lite' on the printer
Printer works as expected. If you use the printer with mobile device just make sure, that the 'Editor Lite'-feature is turned OFF otherwise your mobile device will not recognize the printer. I had to read through the folded manual and actually just tried it and then it connected to my phones. It works with a USB-Hub as well as with a USB2GO-cable (Micro-USB & USB-C).Have older phones, which I barely use and they got now a new purpose.Printing app doesn't allow to turn text 180 degrees, so that you could print a label like for a wire to be readable in both ways. I know that the desktop version can do that. I would have to contact BROTHER if they are planning on implementing that feature in the mobile app.Tested also the red-printing, which seems like it is increasing temperature, and takes as long as a high-quality print. It is nice to have, but I wouldn't recommend it, unless you really need it, since it prints the entire label slower = if you have to print many, larger labels you would have to calculate about 40% longer time. Still printing fast, but not as fast as just in b&w.The app has lots of nice templates (now also for COVID-19) and works very intuitive.I mainly bought this printer to label wires for computer network and it seems like the the DK-2214 labels would do a good job for that. You might use a SCOTCH-tape to protect it and keeping it on the wire, but it is a good size label for labeling wires.

Ok except for software
The included software was hard to install. The actual print quality is good and the label quality is nice. Brother needs to hire some decent programmers and produce some simple label software.

Great Personal Label Maker
I bought this to label items to rake to the nursing home where my mother was. Sadly, she did not make it to truly use it for that purpose. Since then, I have used this to label jars of canned goods. I love the fact that I do not have to use whole sheets of labels for 4 or 5 labels yet can do a dozen or more just as easily. The software is fairly easy and can create labels on the fly.
