I purchased this book for a class called The Bible as Literature, but am enjoying reading it for its own sake. It is a terrific introduction to reading the Bible as well-written literature, and finding the joys of its varying styles, authors and perspectives. I'd highly recommend this book to any student of the Bible, and to any student of literature.

This book complements the traditional historical-grammatico methodology of exegesis and hermeneutics with the literary approach. It does not supplant, but beautifully comes along side and opens the world of narratives in Scripture to build a more complete understanding of the Bible. A must for anyone looking to go deeper in their relationship with the Lord.

I like this book a lot. I enjoy reading the Bible as literature more than any other way because I get more out of it, and this book is a great guide. The author points out so many things that I missed, as I have read through the Bible, even though I have read the books of the Bible so many times, and study it very carefully. I am a religion major in college, and this book has added to my understanding. I highly recommend it for scholars as well as for the average reader who just wants to gain a greater understanding. For example, she points out things in the book of John that helped me understand how he crafted his work to have the greatest impact on his audience, and now I am in awe of John even more than ever before.

The Information is a great help I am using it for my son's homeschooling. there is one problem- the kindle does not have page numbers which makes it hard to find the page I need my son to read.
