This blanket is beautiful and well made
This blanket is a quality, well made, soft blend off 70% wool and 30% synthetic. I love it. I recently bought a 100% wool Pendleton throw for over 50 dollars and this Arcturus is a much better blanket at a much better price and is not itchy as the Pendleton. You wouldn't know that it had less wool without looking at the label. I personally am allergic to wool but this blanket doesn't activate my allergies. Whenever I buy wool I make sure that I put another fabric underneath it so it doesn't rest on my skin. I even smelled it since a few people mentioned that it had a smell. This just isn't true. It just has a wool smell. I can live with that. This blanket also looks to be the size of a twin blanket. It's much bigger than I thought it would be. When I opened it up, it just kept getting bigger and bigger. I would definitely recommend this dense wool blanket to anyone looking to buy one. I actually bought three of them for the family. I bought the modern sunset because it looked like a classic blanket. I'm so glad to have found it. It's a real bargain at this price. I also bought an IKEA wool blanket, which I also like, but the weave in the IKEA is more open and not as dense and more expensive. I plan to put one in the car when I travel, and the other two I'll keep in the house. Get these before they're gone. Wool is a great insulator and in my opinion, and because of my allergies, I think it's smart to mix wool iwith another fabric so that it stays soft and supple and not stiff and itchy.

Looks like the pictures
I was honestly really worried about it having an odor. I am extremely sensitive to odors and intended on putting the blanket at the end of my bed. As soon as I opened it, I thought, oh no, because it does have a slight odor, and I could see how many could mistake it for a petroleum like smell. But I took it immediately and opened it completely to inspect it, and realized that it's just a wool smell. Any odor it did have almost immediately dissipated. I'm wondering if it's possibly from the plastic bag that it's packaged in?? Nonetheless, if your mot familiar with wool, it does have a scent to it, but it's really only ever noticeable if you literally push your nose into it.I'm a bit obsessed with wool. I have wool socks, multiple wool sweaters, many wool blankets etc. It is an amazing fabric that breathes, yet keeps you incredibly warm and doesn't hold odors. But you need to kind of get used to how to care for it. It rarely needs to be fully washed. It simply doesn't hold odors, and the less you wash it, the longer it lasts; I'm talking years and years and years it will last with proper care. I know the directions say you can machine wash it, butI would highly recommend trying not to as much as possible. It simply won't need it. If you were to have that uncommon accident like you spilled wine or something on it, then I would have it dry cleaned - but how often do those types of things really happen?? If it seems like got stinky, air it on a line outside for awhile. It won't hold the odor and you run the risk of damaging it with each wash.I have Scottish wool blankets, New Zealand wool blankets, Pendleton blankets, and now this one. It's not as thick as the Scottish blankets, but about the same texture, and bigger than those for roughly the same price. It's about as thick as the Pendleton blankets but stiffer, and not quite as soft. It costs roughly 1/5 of a Pendleton blanket. The only other wool blanket that I have that says it can be machine washed is the New Zealand wool blanket, but honestly the thought of machine washing it terrifies me, lol. Washing a large wool item just seems like a terrible idea, and why? It really shouldn't need it.I'm pleased with the price, quality, and weight of this blanket. I was slightly worried by the reviews that show theirs coming apart, but based on the info I received with it, I'm fairly comfortable that the manufacturer would respond should I have an issue.

Exactly as described Great Quality
Quality is fantastic, colors are beautiful. I always keep a blanket on the backseat of my vehicle. I spend a lot of time outdoors and the blanket has come in handy many times. I recently purchased a 4 Runner and camp in the back of my car. There are times the sleeping bag isn’t quite warm enough and the blanket I had wasn’t doing the trick. Sooo I found this! Toyota colors and wool!!! So this now lives on my backseat and it works great, it is the perfect weight for not feeling too heavy and bulky but plenty warm as you would expect from wool. Have not washed yet.

Very heavy blanket
I took what other reviewers said before buying. Yes, the blanket does have an odor, whether it is chemical or just the wool smell, I'm not sure. It's not a lanolin smell. I aired it out 24 hours which didn't help much so I washed and dried. Now, my washer does not have an agitator and does have a wool setting. I used that plus wool soap. Drying on the wool setting (low temp). I had to run it through the dryer twice. Did great through cleaning and the smell is less noticeable. Did not shed lint much. It is also much softer now. If you want a heavy duty blanket to cart around places or keep in your car for emergencies, this is perfect. Color is a deep navy with red stripes.

Great blanket
Update: I’ve had it a while now and have put it to use camping, sailing and around the back yard fire pit. It’s held up beautifully and maybe broken in a bit. It’s softer and smells better and has retained its warmth. Great value for the money if you don’t mind airing it out a little and softening it up.Was hopeful the blanket would live up to positive reviews and work as a budget version of too expensive to drag outside Point Blankets. It didn’t disappoint. It’s not quite as nice as a Pendleton, Woolrich or Hudson Bay but it’s a fraction of the cost. It’s nicer than old army blankets and looks great. For under $50 it’s a no brainer. I would never take an $800 Hudson Bay Blanket camping or out by the fire.I got the dark one with red stripes. I think it’s listed as black but it is a true, blue black; navy blue. Not as thick as a four point it’s still warm and will likely get warmer as it relaxes from being shipped.Happy with it. Will likely get a couple more.
