Worked fine in Subaru.

My husband was changing the oil on his Subaru when he accidentally drained the transmission fluid instead! So car was stuck in our driveway and we could not drive it until we got it refilled. Of course this particular fluid is impossible to find locally, couldn’t even buy it from a Subaru dealer in our town.So thankful that the seller had the genuine fluid needed for our particular vehicle and for a good price and super fast shipping so we didn’t have to be without a vehicle for long.It took all 6 quarts to get it refilled, but the bonus is that now our car is driving even better than it was before the accidental incident. I guess it needed a transmission fluid exchange anyway!

The right fluid for a TR580 transmission, and the perfect amount to do a drain and fill. Used 5.5 of the 6 quarts

OK If you have pulled the CVT drain plug instead of the engine oil plug you will need this fluid and these photos to help obtain the correct transfer pump. The bottle neck shown on the Amazon listing is WRONG and will complicate your guesswork. I just purchased this Fluid as of July 2024 and the bottle necks photos depicted here are known as a "WIDE MOUTH QUART" Like the ones used on Mobil-One Motor oil. See my actual product photos for reference.The transfer pump shown in my photos is a "Pittsburgh Automotive Gear Oil and Fluid Pump" -- Amazon also has "BLACK" pumps that look Just like it: My pump was from Harbor Freight and YES the pump is slow. Our Forester was on the hoist for three days just trying to get the Subaru CTVF-II fluid and the right size pump. After the error I put the CTV plug back into the trans-pan ASAP -- because the CTV Fluid will continue to drain long after that initial gush. Your thumb over the drain will prevent the loss of another four or more quarts when you go to install the new crush washer on the plug.We had 1 and 3/4 quarts left over from the original six pack. This protracted Re-fill procedure took about TWO and 1/2 hours. Again -- the bottles shown on the Amazon listing looks like a power-steering fluid bottle. The general recommendation for Suby CVT transmissions is to do a partial fluid change at 60,000 miles. This job entails removing the drain plug and replacing the fluid drained out. The TR580 transmission actually holds about 12 quarts, but only a bit less than half is removed and replaced with this method. You are diluting the remaining original fluid new stuff containing all the friction modifiers and additives that your transmission depends on the work smoothly.
