New Firmware addresses many issues....
I researched many gimbals before purchasing the S1...The first thing when I opened the box was to update the firmware to version 1.0.3, from the Removu website, this update made any motor noise that many people complained about when manually moving the gimbal with the remote inaudible. I am using a go pro hero 6 with the audio set to reduce wind noise, Removu tells you in the manual you have to set up your camera this way or you will pickup noise from the gimbal. Out of the box I had no issues , I attached the counter weight and activated back pack mode as Removu tells you to do when using a go pro hero 5 or 6. My gimbal was level and true out of the box and and i did not notice any micro jitters as Removu stated in the release notes for the firmware update that this was one of the issues the update addressed . My main reason for purchasing this gimbal was to be able to stabilize the video in modes that the go pro 6 does not offer stabilization, and that this gimbal for the price has the most versatility of all the current gimbals on the market including being rain proof for a short time 10 minutes is the stated limit, a remote and being able to be used hand held or by detaching the handle and mounting it to a pole or body mount. I believe early adopters of this product did have issues, none of which I experienced. So far I am impressed with the overall quality and features of the S1.Nothing is perfect this is the reason for the 4 star rating

Does not work out of the box, even after repeated updates and calibrations. Returned.
Gimbal does not work out of the box, tried repeatedly to user re-calibrate, and update firmware, only to make it worse. The gimbal constantly has a tilt, motor whines like crazy, and camera spins out of control. I did a TON of research before purchasing this product, as I always do, and this has to be the biggest disappoint with a purchase I have ever experienced. I was beyond excited to get this gimbal, and for $300, I expected it work. Initiated amazon return within 5 hours of opening the box, I am honestly afraid to even try a replacement, I may just skip the Removu S1 all together, bad part about that is, I really really wanted this specific gimbal, and I am not even interested in any of the other brands because this one was supposed to be far superior.

... I am a real person doing a REAL review Great product, especially when its on sale
I just wanna state that I am a real person doing a REAL reviewGreat product, especially when its on sale. I love the splash resistance that it offers. HOWEVER, when filming, you will hear the rotor of the machine. SO if you're not planing to put music into your video then this is not a product for you.If you can do me a favor and hit a yes on the bottom of my comment. It does help me a lot (:

Too Many Negatives
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. First off let me say I've had the REMOVU S1 for about two weeks now. I've tested during hikes and it has performed okay. There were some issues with the S1 during my last outing. I went on a 10 mile hike that involved fog, elevation changes, and long use. The problem I was having was the S1 would tilt to one side which would result in a lose of horizon after 15-30 seconds. Then I also experienced a fixed position error that would lock the S1 at the 10 o'clock position while the S1 would face forward in all three modes. The end result was I had to stop using the S1 during my hike due to the frustration. REMOVU did come out with a recent firmware update which is suppose to correct micro jitters and allow a factory calibration for the Hero5 Black. Luckily, I joined a Facebook REMOVU S1 group and got a lot of support from users and REMOVU reps. It appears I have to do a factory calibration along with a firmware update and user calibration. The factory calibration is a bit confusing, but I followed some advice from users. I think I fixed the problem, but I still need to test it out in the field again. I did get to test the S1 while it sat on my desk. The tilt was gone and the S1 did not stray from its pan position. Like I said, I still need to take it out in the field. The problems I was having could be user error because I didn't follow the proper firmware update order which is firmware update, user calibration, and then factory calibration.I really like the wireless remote that comes with the S1. It is extremely convenient to have. The remote has some good range with no problems at 5 meters. The rotation of the YAW axis is a bit on the slow side, but the user has to have some skill to operate the S1. The overall construction of the S1 is sturdy. One thing I would like to see is REMOVU to make a pole that attaches to the base of the S1 rather than to the GoPro mount. The S1 is a bit heavy so regular poles might have a hard time keeping the S1 in place with just the GoPro mount. Overall, I really want to like the REMOVU S1, but I'm not totally satisfied yet. If my errors were fixed after the factory calibration then I would definitely give the REMOVU S1 a five star rating.UPDATE: Stay away from this gimbal. I tested the S1 out in the field this past weekend and I still experienced a loss of horizon. When I got back I conducted a user calibration and a factory calibration. Now the S1 keeps rotating violently. It's all messed up. I had high hopes this is gimbal, but it looks like I'm going to return it unless I can get some immediate support from REMOVU.

I needed this sooner!
Ordered this literally for super budget Real Estate videos - perfect for social media posts. Attached with the NEW Gopro Hero 7 Black - this gimbal makes the footage super smooth. The pans and tilts are actually really nice with nice fall-off from each pan or tilt. The gimbal does a really good job at making the footage look organic and not super robotic, such as other larger gimbals in the market. I like the compact factor - and I really like the case it comes with, I'm able to fit all my Gopro accessories and action cameras in there.I currently have (1) Gopro Hero Session 5, (1) Hero 3+ Black, and (1) Hero 7+ Black, (1) Manfrotto Pixi tripod, and additional batteries and chargers. The case feels premium and feels pretty robust, I haven't had any issues of damage or water seeping in whilst out and about. However there is one very big CON that I don't like - and it's that the bottom of the grip doesn't have a 1/4-20 to attach tripods or selfies sticks to give it the versatilely of other gimbals. I'm sure I can figure it out - but would have been nice if it came with that option - instead of the option to hold an micro SD card in the bottom portion of the handle.Would still recommend to make all your gopro footage looked smooth!
