PCs For Dummies, Windows 7 Edition 12th Edition

I had to give this book a 5 star review. Granted, most of what is in it I already knew. Still, the book is well written and there were things in it I did not know. The books biggest plus is that many of todays computers have really lousy owners manuals, I mean really lousy. The 'better' manual you have to go one line to see; I find this irritating. That is where this book comes in. It applies or tries to apply to all PC's. So if you are new to PC's this book will be a godsend and if you are not so new to them you will still find the book of use at times. The books biggest problem is that the author is not quite as funny as he would seem to think and is at times 'corny'. No matter.

I recently replaced Windows XP with Windows 7. So many things that weren't broke, got fixed. Trying to figure out the new, more complicated and time consuming way to do what I wanted, I bought this book. But it's not very helpful. Hard to find the instructions for doing what I want the new way. What I really need is a big sledge hammer to use on the computer and get rid of Windows 7. This book was only marginally successful in helping to find the answers to my questions.

When I considered the small amount that I paid for this used issue, I frankly did not expect too much. To my delight my expectation was incorrect the booklet did not have that "used" look. I did wash it for sanitation purposes, but the book is legible, and is aptly serving its purpose.Joe Vella

This book is good for beginners who don't know nothing about PCs. It clearly explain some ideas about few terms that any average pc users already know. Somehow this book ignite you to be aware of few good things that might be of advantage if you come across it.Don't buy it unless you know nothing about PCs

I have always been a big fan of the 'Dummies' books, and I can add this one to the 'happy with it' list. I can get around with the VERY basic computer requirements, but there is so much more I need to know. This book is written in a very convenient format, which I really appreciate. I'm reading it on my Kindle Fire, and having no difficulty with the illustrations, which isn't always the case. I know I'll never be a whiz at this, but I am getting better! Not bad for 70!

This is a helpful book for anyone purchasing a computer with Windows 7 on it. I have other books by the same writer and he assumes that you have read them. That is mot good for people who do not have his Windows XP book.

Purchased a new computer and Windows XP is no longer an option. Having heard many stories about VISTA, I chose WINDOWS 7. When the computer arrived, the format is very different from what I was use to on XP and being Tech Challenged I ordered this book. It is GREAT!!!!! Gives you step by step help in a language easy to understand. I highly suggest to anyone who is not a Tech sWizard to get this if switching from an old Windows system to WINDOWS 7.

Although I have only scanned this book and read select portions I found much of it is a repeat of PCs for dummies. However there are portions that are Windows 7 specific and in that regard it is beneficial. I recommend it.

Not really what I was expecting but that was probably my fault as it is for dummies I found it difficult to get into. Quick delivery

easy read, detailed information and instructions. Good to learn basics and understand how works your laptop or pc. Would recommend it to beginners

Good book for those who are uncertain of the finer points of computing, doesn't have all the answers to every query you might have but extremely useful.
