Review of Mother of Death and Dawn by Carissa Broadbent
Carissa Broadbent delivers a fantastic conclusion to an epic story with Mother of Death and Dawn, cementing it as a top-tier romantasy. The immersive world-building is rich and intricate, pulling readers deeper into the realm of war, magic, and fate. Broadbent masterfully balances complex characters with a satisfying plot, ensuring that every twist keeps the stakes high and emotions raw.The character development is particularly noteworthy. Max and Tissanah’s evolving relationship is beautifully written, blending love, pain, and growth in a way that feels deeply authentic. Their romance is a highlight, but the secondary characters shine just as brightly. Sammarin and Moth were personal favorites, adding layers of intrigue and depth to the already compelling story. While the novel delivers plenty of action, heartache, and redemption, the pacing does lag in certain areas, causing the story to drag at times. However, this slow build ultimately serves the intricate plot, leading to an immensely satisfying resolution. The converging storylines weave together seamlessly, offering everything—love, betrayal, war, death, and reconciliation.Overall, Mother of Death and Dawn is a breathtaking finale that stays with you long after the final page. If you love immersive fantasy with rich storytelling and unforgettable characters, this book is a must-read.

Solid End to a Fantastic Series
Mother of Death and Dawn is a very well done final chapter to one of my favorite series. It was my least favorite of the 3 books but still satisfying and worth the read.Starting with what I liked: I thought the first half of the book was very captivating. The introduction of Brayan was great and I also loved seeing more of Threll. For the most part, the characters remain consistent and Max and Tisaanah’s relationship continues to be a highlight. Max and Tisannah are what fictional couples should be like: loving, supportive yet challenging when needed, and treating each other with respect. I love how the characters are strong, but not without weakness and not without emotions. Like the first two, this book is extremely well written and well thought out.Now for what I didn’t like. Though the list does seem slightly longer, I still felt that the good really outweighed the bad.- The Fey-I reviewed the second book and also mentioned this, but I did not like the Fey storyline. It was unexpected after the first book and I wish the series had gone in a direction that didn’t include Fey. None of the Fey characters (Aefe included) were particularly interesting and I would have much rather the story focus on the conflict between Threll, Ara, The Wielders, etc. The parts of the book that focuses on human conflict were *chef’s kiss* the parts with Fey were meh.- Aefe- I never grew to care about, like, or hate Aefe. I don’t think we got to know her enough to care about her. I also hated that she replaced Reshaye. Especially in the first book, I was absolutely intrigued by Reshaye and had a way that I wanted the story line to go in my head. My desired storyline didn’t happen and I was disappointed when Aefe’s story replaced Reshaye. I also felt like Aefe’s development was rushed, but wouldn’t have wanted to read any more about her.- Nura- I love a morally grey character so I really liked Nura in the first two books. She lost a lot of her grey-ness in the final book and wasn’t as interesting to me- Length: Finally, I thought the book was a bit long for what it needed to be. There were a couple false endings and ways it could have been wrapped up earlier. There were a lot of action scenes and other scenes that could have been cut out or shortened and I was very fatigued by the end.Despite the aspects that I didn’t like, this book is still really good and well worth reading. The main characters outweigh any negatives and I’ll be sad to say goodbye to them. Book 1 is by far my favorite but 2 and 3 hold their own.

New Favorite Trilogy
I legit loved every bit of this trilogy! The action, the romance, the heartbreak, the adventure, the characters... there was nothing about this I didn't like! I'm honestly sad to have finished because I didn't want it to be over!I didn't quite expect how it all ended with Aefe, Max, and Tisaanah, but it was still satisfying seeing how everything wrapped up. The authors writing sucks you in and I will definitely need to dig into some of her other books!
