Oak Grove Smokehouse Cajun Dirty Rice Mix (5 Pack of 7.9 Ounce Bags)

My favorite dirty rice. Less stores in my area have the dirty rice on the shelf. So now I get it from Amazon.

Discovered the Oak Grove brand when I lived in Prairieville LA. I had two little ones and needed quick, wholesome meals to feed my family. If you see the Oak Grove name on a product you know you have the spices and most time it includes rice. All you need is to decide on the meat you want.With this blend I like to use chicken 🐔. Throw it in the pan and you are good to go. Put some okra if you like it. You are about to enjoy a good meal.

WARNING WARNING WARNING DELICIOUS BUT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ!!!!Have cooked this two times now and the first time I used all broth so Use water instead of broth as it’s entirely too SALTY, I even tried reduced sodium broth an only 1 cup of that and 1&1/2 cup water which was better but still too salty

I picked this stuff up on a trip to New Orleans and bringing it home. My mistake was not picking up more. Brown up a bit of ground beef and follow the instructions, and this is half of a very tasty meal for several folks. I rarely buy food online, but this one is definitely worth it. It's got well enough Cajun for you to know it, but not so much that it spices out the kiddies. This really is as good as it gets and had far worse than in some restaurants in Louisiana.It's also great for leftovers. Some rice dishes get a little sticky or soggy and don't reheat well. This does reheats great. The trick however, though is to nuke it on about half power till it warms up a bit and you can stir it around. Try doing that flat cold and you might tear up the rice with your serving spoon.

Bland, overpriced, back to Zatarains.

While cooking it, I noticed that the rice mixture seemed to dry out faster at the recommended 25-minute cook time on low stove temperature compared to other brands I typically use, such as Zatarain's and Louisiana's.However, aside from this minor issue with the cooking instructions, I did enjoy the taste of your product. I plan to recommend your brand to friends and family, suggesting they might want to adjust the cooking time or liquid amount slightly based on their stove and desired consistency.Thank you for a flavorful product.

A little too salty but good flavor. Next time, I'll add extra rice to it to take up some of the saltiness.
