You can have your cake and eat it too - how to do outperform your competition while serving humanity
Ranjay Gulati's book is priceless because it provides solid evidence and profound narratives that clearly showcase that having a purpose far beyond outstanding financial performance actually is necessary for outstanding financial performance. Gulati eloquently persuades the skeptic and further convinces the believer that there is both a science and an art to effective leadership of purpose-driven organizations. In doing so, he is able to dispel myths that being purpose-driven is weak and unprofitable. If you read this book, you will change the way you lead and become a better person for it.

Deep Purpose gets personal on the Why and How
I believe ‘Deep Purpose’ will serve as a go-to reference on the business benefits realized from remaining true to a corporate purpose, and how its linked to increased profitability. Professor Gulati shares individual lessons and collectively threads the leadership stories to articulate successful patterns and necessary trade-offs. I was impressed with leaders’ experiences and willingness to get personal on what works and doesn’t. Professor Gulati has a special talent for wrapping first-rate research-based learnings into frameworks and stories that stick way beyond the last chapter.

Brilliant book about how Purpose leads to greater profit + performance
Ranjay Gulati, professor at the Harvard Business School, wrote a very relevant book on what it takes to achieve better performance and profit. A very original and worthwhile read with case studies on Etsy, Livongo, Mahindra Group and other diverse companies. Ranjay offers practical examples that leaders can use to think creatively about how to deliver as much benefit as possible to all their stakeholders.

This book will help transform you and your business to entirely new heights!
As a consultant, I read a lot of books on leadership, purpose, and meaning and know this space pretty well. What so distinguished Deep Purpose is its comprehensive approach to incorporating, with deft richness, business strategy, purpose, leadership, stakeholder capitalism, company character, leading/operating from moral values, with caring stewardship of all stakeholders that enrolls and unites them into the company's purpose. And he writes just beautifully, and you can't help but to be inspired to elevate your own leadership and corporate strategy with his suggested deep purpose agenda. I dare say that if we can get even a fraction of companies and their leaders to rise to this level of operational purpose, we can firmly situate business as the most powerful agent lifting the world's population, while making work the joyous, fulfilling playground it should be. Count me IN!

Great guide for purpose-driven leaders. Going beyond convenient purpose to Deep Purpose!
I read lots of books and am a big fan of purpose-driven leadership. While some books address why purpose is important, in this book Ranjay Gulati goes much deeper, providing frameworks and thinking tools that enable organizations to navigate the messy process of becoming purpose-driven.Working on purpose is an ongoing process and this book serves as a great THINKING, DOING, and BEING guide for Deep Purpose!

Insightful, well researched, and enjoyable
Ranjay is one of the few academics that can write well. The book is well researched with case studies that make excellent points. I learned a tremendous amount about companies that were not on my radar. I question how practical some of the points he makes on stakeholder capitalism are for most companies. Ranjay writes that just asking the question..."what's the businesses purpose?" is a start in the right direction. I totally agree. Outstanding book and highly recommended.

What is a business for?
This book addresses the essence of a business. What is a business for? Gulati investigates the purpose of a business and argues that having a deep purpose sets apart the great companies. He explains the characteristics of deep purpose and the road one can travel for building a deep purpose. I enjoyed this book. The message is important and the many examples bring it to life.

A perfect book for organisations today
Deep Purpose is the perfect book for business leaders, entrepreneurs, heads of organisations. Existence and sustainability of business today goes beyond just the bottomline, it is becoming increasingly clear that the various stakeholders that contribute to the success of an organisation are looking for more than just the profit number. The great resignation is already proving that employees need more than the remuneration, they need to belong, they need to feel a sense of purpose in their lives beyond working for the money. Customers too, are looking not just for products that meet a single need but also do not damage the environment etc etc... Deep Purpose drives at these issues and pushes leaders to ask difficult questions and make the leap. A great read... highly recommended
