Rio Grande Games Yinsh

YINSH, like all the other games from the GIPF series, comes with unique rules and high-quality pieces. This game is quick to learn, but takes a while to master. To me, YINSH and TZAAR are the best games in the series. Truly enjoyable--nothing else like them!

Honestly a breathtaking abstract strategy game. It is rich with strategy and enjoyment. The pieces and board are beautiful as well. This is a great game which is easy to teach and learn but the strategy will take you places. I cannot recommend i enough for an abstract fan.

There are several reasons why Yinsh is my all time favorite abstract strategy game:1. Setup takes less than 5 seconds.2. No luck is involved. It's all about skill.3. It incorporates one of the best catch-up mechanisms I have ever seen. Your goal is to remove 3 of your rings, but each ring you remove makes you weaker. Just compare that to chess and other similar games where as soon as a player has a clear advantage, that player is almost certain to win.4. There are very few rules and the game is extremely simple to learn.5. It's a super dynamic game. The higher the number of pieces on the board, the greater the tension and the potential for game-changing moves.Very highly recommended!

i love the feel of the rings and the circles. the board is nice with a clean image. this game is very fun and challenging to figure out

Without a doubt this is my favorite two-player abstract strategy game. It is a mix of Pente and Othello, but that really makes it sound too simple. It really is simple to learn, but it will take time to learn strategies. It takes 5 to 10 games to really appreciate the nuances of the game and after that it will be a game that you will never get rid of or avoid playing. You have to get 3 five in a rows to win and as you get a 5 in a row then you take your power pieces off the board along with your 5 pieces. This mechanic makes you weaker as you win. It is really hard to put into words how this works and why it is so great. The component quality is very good. If you are a fan of two-player abstract games then you do yourself a disservice by not picking this up. I HIGHLY recommend this game.Edit: It appears this game is out of print. It is still awesome, but don't pay too much for it. There are tons of other great strategy games available. I have heard that this game will get reprinted. So it should be back to a reasonable price be this fall or Christmas time.

This is such a fun abstract strategy game that doesn’t get old. The simplicity of the game functions mean you rely on your own strengths to win a game. It doesn’t get boring and is a great introduction to abstract strategy games.Also prob best in the series
