Maybe OK for Some but not for me
I bought this book (not cheap) as I had recently bought a six string banjo and thought this book would help. I also play the guitar. For me, and this is only my opinion. the book does not help me at all. In fact, for me it is useless. The songs are obscure and technical details do not appear to have any explanations. The nail in the coffin was the book telling me to re-tune the strings. I bought a six string banjo (or banjitar) as tuning was the same as a guitar and chords the same. I can knock out a reasonable banjo tune with some dodgy string picking without this book utilising guitar chords.Maybe this book is OK for some but I would not recommend for those hoping that this will help them to play a six string banjo. My money was wasted!

5 string banjo styles for 6 string guitar
Good book but very hard to sort out the fingering and different tuning for a beginner like me. Needs a lower level to start . Good for " quality" guitarists. I was using it to try on a 6 string banjo .

OK
I bought this because I have six string banjo. I found the pieces a bit difficult to follow. Soldiering on with it.

Lacking preparatory drills
A great book I've picked up some licks from I'm currently working through "Frailing the Guitar" , that is a book with a solid base of exercises the writer Steve Baughman gives you, while he makes it clear you should do the preparatory exercises for at least a month before you get to stuck into the advanced full compositions. Not so with this book you dive straight into Musical pieces and then the exercises are at the end. They are mostly licks as well like Jerry Reed licks, there are no scale exercises Banjo style for example in C or G or Mixolydian. You can see Chet Atkins and Robert Smith run through some of these on YouTube but they are not in the Book a little dissapointing.A good book though a few preperatory exercises and drills before the music compositions would be better.I'm working my way through frailing first and getting back to this and putting the two techniques together.Great for the Skilled to Advanced player but daunting to get into the style for beginners. The pieces are magnificent and worth the price alone I have it on my XBox 360 just so I dont scratch the original CD!A better progressive study setup would have this as five stars if you are looking to get into this Banjo style from beginner level search YouTube learn a few scales and then get this.
