Had to return due to small fitting, but correct fitting ones are awesome!
This is a cracking pair of boots for a cracking price. I am a size 12 but unfortunately when I ordered a size 12 they were too small. I sent them back thanks to amazons fantastic returns service. They didn't have any 13's in stock so I had to wait. When they had some in I re ordered and they came and they were a fantastic fit. Even from the first time you put them on you can feel how plush and warm they are, they are very well made and look great. They even have a metal loop at the bottom of the laces to hook your gators to. I can't comment on the waterproofness as I haven't tried them in the wet yet but I have every confidence in this brand so have no doubts they will be fine. They fell very supportive in the heel and I like the scuff protector on the toes which will save any damage there from scuffing on rocks etc. Would I recommend? For sure I would. I only hope they are still making them when I need new ones in years to come.

Careful on the sizing!
I bought these for my "winter shoes", as they looked great on the pics, and I am a fan of Merrell shoes. The price was pretty tidy too, as walking boots of this quality generally tend to be over the £100 mark. The review advice for these was that they are on the small side, so get a size bigger. I did so, purchasing a 12, I am usually an 11.Firstly, they look really good, although very chunky, with a smooth suedey upper and a tough rubberised toecap. The laces are excellent, non-slip and robust and the sole is the usual high quality from this company. Immediately very warm when on, as they are well-padded inside. I tried them with a thinnish sock and was expecting them to be a little roomy but actually they felt a little cramped. After a few laps of the hallway, I almost changed my mind and sent them back, as they felt tight at my toes, even with the extra size. But I decided to keep them as I needed some boots fairly urgently, and I have now had them for a few weeks. They still feel a bit tight at the toes to be honest, although much better than before. I have worn them every day, and I walk several miles every day. Grip is very good, and my feet have stayed dry. I did spray them with a waterproofer when I got them for extra protection from the damp. My feet have suffered no ill effects at all, and my ankles and calves are fine, no strains or blisters. I am satisfied with the boots, although if I had had time I may have even bought a replacement pair a half size or so bigger.

lovely replacement for Brashers
I walk my 3 dogs in the forest for up to 2 hours a day. About 5 years ago I bought 3 pairs of brasher which are no longer waterproof and the soles are all dangerously smooth......so I had to find a replacement pretty quick. These boots are brilliant, warm (not sure if they will be too warm in the summer), so far my feet have kept dry, very grippy, although not on slippery rocks (but then what is?), lightweight and so very comfortable. After all the reviews on sizing, I went for the same size as brashers are on the small size, so a full size larger than my shoe size. The price was surprising as my size was just over £57...... I was expecting to pay a lot more for this quality. The boots arrived within a couple of days.I ordered 2 more pairs (I do so much walking) and they took considerably longer to arrive........however I have had to send one pair back, the right foot was the size I wanted but the left was a half size smaller. So one pair is going back to Amazon for a refund and I have just ordered another pair for £50..... a bargain. It is not Amazon or Merrell's fault for the mix up in size, just someone with odd feet and dishonest...I suspect

Perfect
I do a lot of walking, whether it's simply walking a couple miles to town, or whether it's walking through fields and meadows for the exercise. For years I've just stuck with wearing cheap trainers, but more often than not I'll end up with some sort of pain in my feet. This ranges from trainers rubbing against the back of the ankle, to pressing against the top of the foot and bruising it, to hurting the bottom of the foot due to lack of cushioning on the soles of the shoe.So I finally decided to spend a lot of money on a pair of boots designed to be comfortable no matter how far you walk. I couldn't be happier with them. They fit like a glove; they are very soft and warm inside, and they are very well cushioned. Because they are a boot they won't rub the back of my ankle, and there's no chance they'll cause pain to any other part of the foot either. The moral I suppose is it's better to pay a little extra for something that'll last a long time while doing the job well, rather than buying cheaper stuff that in the long run will cost more due to buying replacements and also damage your feet because they are poorly made. Just wish I'd bought these sooner

Nice but narrow
Note: this is only a quick first impressions & sizing review, since I haven't tested these properly in the field yet, hence three stars for a cautious 'okay'.Following the usual advice for Merrells, I initially ordered a pair of 13's, which is one size up from my 'regular' size and typically fits fine (I have some Moabs in 13 and they're blissfully comfortable). But, had to send the first pair of Norsehunds back and exchange for a 14, because they were too narrow, as well as a tad too short, to the point of pinching my toes. The 14's are still not *quite* as broad as I would've ideally liked, but are otherwise a decent fit in thin to medium socks.I would advise, if you have wide feet or habitually wear two pairs of socks with your hiking boots, to go maybe one and a half or even two sizes up, rather than just one. These boots are not as generously proprtioned as other Merrells, and do taper quite significantly towards the toes.Other than that, the boots have a nice rigidity - very solid ankle support - and the cushioning and sole are superb; good and grippy. I like the D-rings for gaiters and the leather construction. Bought these for winter walking, so we'll see how they hold up....

The only boots I wear are Merrell...
I love Merrell Hiking boots. They fit as advertised and the insulation is great as cold weather gear. It also looks so good with its stylish lines and the laces holders are really strong for any kind of terrain you take on. My favorite feature is the tread...they look like tiger's teeth.. .ready to take on dirt, rocks, mud, snow, ice and just a great all around hiking boot. The only boots I wear are Merrell !!!
