Way Beyond Compare: The Beatles' Recorded Legacy, Volume One, 1957-1965

This is really a book for the true fan. I am fortunate that I have a lot of the little known recordings that are referred to so that I can refer to them as necessary. Mr Winn engenders enthusiasm that makes you want to hear a lot of the recordings he catalog use and I long for the day that a major company bites the bullet and officially releases this type of material in the best available quality.

excellent this and its companion vol 2 are among the best , they can be appreciated on a casual level, but they also deserve an award in beatle book dom, awesome, very happy yours s,j,

Cet ouvrage a pour but de rencenser l'intégralité des documents audio et vidéo des Beatles. Cela va de quelques minutes d'un film super 8 disponible dans un DVD, à une interview disponible sur un cd pirate, en passants par les enregistrements officiels et les concerts à la BBC. C'est très complet. Peut-être trop complet car l'ouvrage a vouloir etre trop exhaustif n'est pas toujours passionnant (une demi page sur une interview ca vous tente?) En outre la fait qu'il ne comporte aucune illustration (ca peut paraitre anodin mais ca aère le texte) et l'on se retrouve avec un ouvrage qui fait surement référence sur le sujet mais qui s'adresse finalement à une nombre limité de personnes.Pour précision cet ouvrage anglophone couvre la période 1957-1965
