Super easy to fix a lamp, this made it simple, and impressed my mom that I fixed her art deco lamp she uses every day

I bought a brand new floor lamp, and my cat crashed into it and broke it the next day. I love to fix things, so I took it apart and discovered the threaded socket that holds the bulb in place broke (pic 1.) I ordered this kit and ended up using the socket interior, shell, and shade ring in the repair. The socket cap in my lamp was welded in and this not removable, but this kit fit into the existing cap just fine.The repair was easy, and a pair of lineman’s pliers and a Phillips screwdriver are all that were required to do it. My lamp looks great (pic 2), and a $7 repair saving my $120 lamp is a great value.

I was able to save our floor lamp. Took about ten minutes to install. Only reason I gave it four stars was the plastic on/knob could be about 1-2" longer.

Very easy and fast to install. Great replacement for the manufacturer’s original socket. Just saved around $150 by not having to buy a new lamp.

This is a better substitute than the brass plated cheap steel parts found locally. The plastic type like this one is easier to install and much stronger than the modern metal type.

Have boys they said. It’ll be fun they said. You know what’s not fun? The destruction that comes from wrestling and jumping off furniture and playing ball in the house (even though I’ve repeatedly asked them not to). Well this time they broke a lamp so off to Amazon I went to find a replacement part. This was easy to install and made my lamp fully functional again, saving me from having to buy a whole new lamp. Now I’m still out a vase from roughhousing antics, but that’ll be a different purchase!

Socket was easily installed and seems to work just fine, however, the size is larger than "standard" which meant that none of the lamp shades I had that slip over the socket and get tightened down with the retaining ring would fit. If you have another shade that attaches to the bulb or to a connector elsewhere on the lamp base, that shouldn't matter to you, but if you're using the type of shade that I was planning, to, look elsewhere.

My living room lamp had two pull chains to activate the two light bulbs. Well, it was only a matter of time before I broke off one of the chains.As my wife looked up options for a new lamp, I went to Amazon and ordered these replacement sockets with knobs instead of chains.With only a modest expense and 30 minutes of my time, I had the lamp working again and my wife's dreams of a new living room lamp were squashed.
