Rocket Stove - Plancha

I just purchased the Zoom Plancha (La Mera Mera) Stove to go with my  Zoom Versa Stove , which by the way, is a great stove. Got an email 20 minutes after I placed the order saying it has shipped...the folks at EcoZoom are great! Can't wait to use the Zoom Plancha! If this stove is even close to the quality of the Zoom Versa it will be a great stove. Will update as soon as I get it tested.Received the stove and had the weekend to review. Just as I expected, the Zoom Plancha is very well built and just as durable as the Zoom Versa. The Plancha is very well packaged for shipping. Once out of the box and setup it is very obvious this is a quality stove. If you're not sure of the best way to fire up this stove just follow the instructions stated by the BBQ Guy in his review and you'll be well on your way. I put this stove thru the paces and performance was flawless, better than expected. This is the perfect emergency or off the grid stove, if you go with the Zoom Plancha you won't be sorry!

Understand that shipping an item like this some damage can occur. The issue here was upon receiving and opening the item, the baked stone/clay (or whatever material is used) had some damage/broken pieces. Use Stove and Gasket Cement and simply fix it up to a like new condition. Simply unscrew and remove the Plancha top, use a vacuum to remove the loose debris, apply the Stove and Gasket Cement. Let dry according to guidelines, then reassemble. Easy fix.

I love the craftsmanship love the idea,but totally not practical to get started when its cold i sat many times for hours to try and start this i would start a fire in both chambers to heat it up and the air in it.

I still have not been able to use this product...bad weather has worked against us in a terrible way. I promised the seller I would review and write a comment but time has escaped. So my review above will be based on what I received, and how I think it will work. My problem was no directions and seller responded by sending a computer instruction paper. Not the most convenient hence 4 out 5 stars but it is thorough. The shipment was superior, some stuff looked broken at first and we panicked but seeming the casing just had debris from manufacture. I was a little intimidated not having a pic of how to set things up but they are straight forward and God bless YouTube. There is a video there. Luckily I have used a rocket stove before so I am familiar with the successes and failures that go with that. I am not too familiar with chimneys and worry in my humid area about premature rust but seller did contact me about that...sadly, I am so worried about rust that I don't want to use this item until it dries up here in the Appalachian mountains..if that ever happens. I hope that it will serve the emergency need which is why we got this..wondering how efficient I will be with no water or electricity and a 70 lb stove with no place to permanently set it up, LOL. It is one of the most expensive items I have ever purchased for emergency prep, so I really hope it works as well as it shows in the video. The cooking area seems very durable, but the base stoves remind me of cans...I am trying hard not to concentrate on that...its a lot of money. I will write a better updated review once we use it. Finally, the four stars were given because the seller made themselves available, and although I did not get an immediate response I did get a good one regarding potential of the stove rusting concerns. Basically, rust can be expected but the stove is made to work hard and last a good time is what I learned. Its really a lot of money but maybe the cast iron top made it seem reasonable to buy. We will try it soon, hopefully.

It produces 550F-650F of continuous heat on the top using only dry sticks. I have been able to keep it running continuously for several hours using only a single log tote's worth of wood. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for alternatives to typical outdoor wood burning stoves.Hopefully it or a newer model comes back in stock.

Extremely disappointed with mine. It arrived today with one of the cast iron covers missing and broken clay chunks all over the unit. I dont know how this could get passed by any type of quality control. How do you not notice a big hole on top of the stove where a cast iron cover should be?UPDATE: I had to upgrade my rating because the company has been great so far to work with. They are sending me a replacement stove and if the new one arrives with everything in tact I will go up another star.UPDATE: I had to upgrade my rating to 5 stars. The company has been fantastic at fixing my situation. New stove arrived with all the parts and in tact. Thank you.

Ran the exhaust pipes slightly up the flue in my family room. Cooked beautifully during snow storm with little fuel and good heat intensity control. Made eggs easily without ruining them. Wonderful piece of emergency equipment
