Linn Sampler 3 / Various

I found the sound quality of the recordings on this disk is good enough to rival some of my better (but not best) direct-to-disc long-playing phonograph records. D2D records are still the finest storage media for music ever made. Like many of my D2D records, this CD contained works by artists I had not heard of before. Most of the music is perfectly listenable, and well-performed. But the Liszt piece performed by George Emmanuel-Lazaridis is astounding. His speed, finesse, and expressiveness are as good as I've ever heard.Except for my Liszt record performed by Ervin Nyíregyházi in Columbia's Master Works series. of good quality

I'm not commenting on the quality of the music itself but on the lack of "surround". I honestly don't know how this disc has surround in the title but it's the worst sacd I own in terms of rear channel sound. It's like they just used the front audio on the rear and lowered the volume an extreme amount, I put my ear on the back speaker and can barely hear anything. I think this is my first review on amazon and I only wrote it so others will know about the misleading title.

It has some very good recordings, and music selection was decent overall. Certainly some good sound demos to be had.

Nice selection of sensual and easy mild jazz vocals and classical pieces.Just wish they mixed them up instead of vocals then classical instrumentals.
