This "new and improved" model really works.
I used to use the old Buttoneer with great success. Then, the fasteners themselves stopped being of high quality. I ordered refills from several vendors and they were all brittle and would not hold like the old fasteners. On the new model, the QUALITY of the actual fasteners themselves is back. They work and hold just fine. The other improvements are well thought out and helpful. The pistol grip design makes it easier to use. The onboard storage for the fasteners is a nice touch. Finally, the cap that covers the needles also provides a handy surface to push against when using a fastener. Previously, I used my fingers and almost got stuck a couple of times. The functionality is back and a good deal! The new fasters, however, do not work with the old Buttoneer. So, you do have to buy the new one to use the quality fasteners.

Should have listened to the reviews
This thing was a headache to use. I only got to work right on my buttons 1 time. Every other time there was a problem from the fasteners being difficult to load in to the trigger getting stuck and not firing properly to the fasteners getting stuck in the thing due to misfires to the needle coming apart. It was just a mess. It really seems like this is made of cheap plastic that cost like $1 to make so they can sell it for $20. Just avoid and buy something elseUpdate:. I'm taking back the one nice thing I said about this thing being it worked once. After barely a week and I'm not sure when it happened maybe in the washing machine. The fastener snapped off and now that button is lost forever because I can't find it. So now I'm taking back that one nice thing I said because the fastener was weak and didn't hold up at all. This thing is just complete trash

Does the job well enough, but expect to have "miss-fires" now and then
After watching my collection of buttons falling of my clothing grow, I knew it was either time to re-learn some basic sewing, or try one of these devices. I chose the latter. The Buttoneer video makes it seem like once you load the strip of fasteners you are all set and off to the races. Well yes, until you need to do your second one. After each successful fastener installation you then must firmly push the fastener strip in for the next "shot". It's not a big deal, but somehow I imagined it would work like a stapler, one shot after the other, assuming the tool loaded or pulled the fastener strip in after each shot. Expect to have some miss-fires now and then, especially when you first start. There will be a learning curve. If you need to install 2, you better make sure extra available to load. The end result is great, pretty much invisible. I noticed some other makers of similar tools were listed as "temporary repair". In the Singer video, I just didn't like the look of the final job. It looked loose, obvious, and certain to fall off soon.Yes, I would purchase it again, and recommend it to others.

Easy but not effective enough
I liked the idea Of a simple fix, however after just one washing the plastic attachments that hill the button on broke and now I'm in the same place as I was before ordering. It's very irritating and a waste of money.

This is a Godsend!
I feel in love with the Buttoneer 25 years ago when my daughter's were taking dance class as children. I used this to attach bows and other items to costumes, repair tips and tears when they were on stage, etc. It works for just about everything. I was unable to find the tacks for my old one, so I was unable to use it for years and I missed it more than anything. I was so happy to see this new unit online again! I currently decorate ballet tutus and this little baby once again did not disappoint!! Every item attached to the tutu has to be tacked on, but still removable so the underskirt can be reused for different performances and these went on smoothly and easily, and are holding the appliques securely. This little gem is a true time saver!!

Jammed and Damaged Shirt
It took two and a half sets of fasteners to secure a single four hole buttonThe fasteners kept jamming inside of the product and securing the fasteners into it was also difficult due to how flimsy they were.Honestly would have been easier and faster to just sew the button on with how long it took and how frequently it jammed. The needles that thread the fastener in are also pretty thick and would likely leave a hole in a thinner or more delicate fabricDefinitely pricey for something that does not work very well as well as damaged my shirt

Was easy to use and worth the money
I had there old model for awhile and works great till the plastic tabs ran out and had to search for a new one. I will say I tried one other button repair gun with one needle insert but doesn't work till I purchased this one. Just used this item today and at first was curious on loading the plastic tabs to the item, then I see that you have to push in till you feel it lock , then it's ready to use. I was used to just push down with my fingers the cuff of the shirt with the button that came off and hold it down while pressing the button gun but I remembered seeing the ad for this item showing that you can use the protective cap as a base instead of using your fingers to hold the collar. Great item for a quick fix!
