Q: does this come in pairs or is the price for one only?

They show two in the picture but the price is for ONE miter bar.

Q: What is a good screw to attach this to jig?

I used two of these to make a table saw slid with 1/2 plywood. 1/2 plywood, I used standard 1/4 X 20 X 3/4 long flat head screws and counter sunk them into the plywood. Remember bar is only 3/8" thick.

Q: Can this be used to replace the bar on a miter gauge? My existing miter gauge bar is fairly short...

I don't think that would be a good tool. A miter gauge needs to be precision crafted to yield good results. This bar will fit the miter slot but I am not sure how you would go about accurately and securely fasting to your current miter gauges fence. A better miter gauge is worth buying.

Q: Does this fit a 5/8" x 1/4" miter slot?

According to Rockler they are for a 3/4" x 3/8" miter slot so my guess is, no.
