One of the Best Commuter Tires
This is an ideal commuter tire. It's super puncture resistant, has a reflective sidewall, and still grips in the rain. The main downsides are that it's heavy, rather expensive, and difficult to put on. As I commute with a big laptop and a change of clothes, the weight penalty isn't a huge deal. Additionally, in my case the opportunity costs associated with being late to work easily exceed the $20/tire premium I'm paying. The final problem is solved by watching YouTube videos which detail how to put on these tires. The good this is, you'll only have to change them once a year, If that, since even if you ride over a pile of glass and tacks, you won't puncture.

Hard to fit? Seriously?!
These tires roll fast and offer a decent amount of traction on gravel. They’re a solid, durable, and capable all-around tire that won’t shred easily. Not as fast as a proper slick and not too squirrelly, either (unless you over inflate them, especially up front).Installing them is one of the easiest things I’ve done. I read the reviews and was nervous about fitting a wire bead without any experience with them. All it took was one YouTube video, a set of Pedro’s tire levers, and 10 minutes of squishing and wiggling to get both tires swapped out and ready to go.Bring the ruckus. These things will eat it up.

Grippy and bulletproof, yet smooth
These tires have the right combination of bulletproof and smooth. They handle well in all conditions, I have never felt like I was going to slide, even in the rain. In spite of the meaty treads, the ride feels very smooth on a steel touring bike. They also install painlessly but securely. Most importantly, I have commuted with these for a year so far without a flat. Given other's experience with schwalbe tires, I expect they will last much longer.

Good puncture protection and grip on wet/dry, but weight is t
A supple casing typically has less rolling resistance and it absorbs bumps and road imperfections better, making it more comfortable. However, often the price to pay for a supple tire is less puncture resistance. Likewise for the best traction on paved roads, you will want 'slick' or subtle treading. This allows you to maximize the surface area in contact with the road. For unpaved roads, you want 'knobs' that will 'dig' into the surface.Basically there is no one tire that is best for all surfaces and conditions. Every tire therefor is a compromise in some way or another. The Schwalbe Marathon Mondial tries to strike the perfect balance between puncture protection, traction on paved and unpaved roads in wet or dry conditions, while maintaining a reasonable ride quality. For the most part it succeeds, but not without compromises.I mounted the tire on the rear of my light touring bike, which I use for commuting on paved and unpaved roads, carrying groceries and supplies, and even for some long-ish fitness rides. The tire was able to handle everything that I threw at it pretty well, the main downside being that it does feel a little heavy and sluggish. If you are willing to trade off some speed for puncture protection and traction on unpaved surfaces, this is your tire. If you ride mostly on paved roads, you might be better served by a lighter and more supple tire. Good for touring, and commuting on mixed terrain.

The one tire I would grab for a do-it-all bike!
These tires are great for a touring/offroad bike. Their wear has been extremely slow, they are very durable, and the tread grip is great for onroad as well as offroad. I got them in the 700x40's, and they're great for mild to moderate single track all the way up to streets. Have them on my do-it-all bike, my only complain is they're a hair heavy and slow to spin up, but better than expected given the puncture resistance, tread, and general bulletproof construction.

Good tires!
Very solid, awesome tires.... get some! I've been a bike mechanic for 15 years... these are the tires I buy for any commuter or touring set up, they work good and I usually get fewer than 4 flats over the life of the tire.... most of which are my own fault for not checking my tire pressure.

Perfect for my needs
The tires are great and provide the cushion I need to ride for many miles at a time and on smooth hard surfaces as well as loose gravel or sand. The only problem was the packaging; they were folded and one had to have the bead straightened and these tires are not easy to get on the rim. Still like them very much.

Not for touring
I put these on my Long Haul Trucker. The sidewall seemed thinner than the Continental travel contact tires that came with the bike. That fact came back to haunt me a couple thousand miles later. A bubble started forming on the side of the tire the first day of my week long adventure. I changed the tire from the back to the front and put a Parks Tools Tire Boot on the affected area and was able to limp another 60 miles before getting a new tire. The tire was so bad you could see the inner layers. But it did not catastrophically fail on me. It held up long enough for me to get a new tire. That is why I give it three stars. Maybe if failed because I carry such heavy loads on my tours. So I would not recommend if for touring. But if you don't carry heavy loads, it might be the perfect tire for you.Btw, now I came up with the great idea of buying a super strong Schwalbe tire for the rear and a weaker lighter tire for the front.
