Ronco Salad-O-Matic

Got used to eating "chopped salad" at my local restaurant, so I figured I would try this. I'm sold!Not only easy to use and clean up, but very durable. For chopped salad, just slice or break up your veggies into smaller, easy to chop pieces, load them into the large bowl, and start chopping. Not only does it work well, but it does it rather quickly. The large bowl holds a huge amount, and makes it easy to do the chopping. I found that the lettuce needs to be in small chunks so it will slice and chop better. The chopping blade is fairly sharp, but I ran it through my knife sharpener just to hone it up a bit.When chopping, you can also use a "slicing" motion to cut the veggies. If you have issues with your grip, or arthritis, etc., the blade is very easy to hold and use. The bowl is made of a soft, plastic material that is very easy to clean. I did notice that the chopping did leave slicing marks into the bowl. No big deal, to be expected, and it won't damage the blade like a hard-surfaced bowl would. Should last a while.

I saw this as a renewed product here on Amazon and jumped on it. I see that they are no longer available at all, so I feel so lucky that I got the one that I did. I couldn't be happier with both pieces. What a big bowl! I opted for plastic because I know that a metal bowl, which I've seen available by other brands, can dull the blade more quickly. I make huge salads almost every other day, and my life just got a whole lot easier thanks to this set. I'm now making salads in fraction of the time. I have tried a lot of other lettuce chopping gadgets, and ended up disappointed in all of them. Some seemed great at first, but after a few times, stopped being effective. As long as this blade doesn't dull quickly, I will remain a very happy camper. If/when it does end up dulling though, although I won't be thrilled, I will just buy a different mezzaluna to use with this the bowl. If you see it available again, obviously, I highly recommend. P.S. I will update if it does happen to dull prematurely.

Wow. So glad I ordered this. It is a real upgrade. It make salad awesome. The shape of the chopper and bowl is prefect to get the job done fast. It is real Easy to clean, easy to use, I eat from the bowl. I can’t set it in my upper cabinet because they aren’t deep enough.I love it.

I love this! I made a salad for family dinner and my parents could not understand why I was chopping my salad up like that, and then they ate it and loved it too! Easy to clean and fits in the dishwasher.

The product works as advertised, and was a very good buy. I use it all the time to prep salads, which I like much better when chopped, rather than having large chunks.

The bowl is very sturdy. I specifically chose this one for the plastic bowl. I knew a metal bowl would dull the knife too quickly. The knife wasn't terribly sharp when we got it, but being a single blade, it sharpened easily and holds its edge. I thought I'd order a better knife, but this one is quite adequate.
