I am in the middle of dry January and I am enjoying it so much that may just be a permanent change. I was a pretty heavy drinker. Not every day, but when I did, it was usually heavy. For the past 8 years since I was 14, I have been on more than one medication for anxiety disorder and severe depression. Last month my doctor put me on a new medication since Prozac stopped working for me. It was a nightmare. I had awful side-effects like nose bleeds, bruising, vivid dreams, and I had many sad moments. 4 weeks into them and I wasn't seeing myself getting better. I got off them after I had a breakdown and I spoke with my doctor that I was going to go the natural route because I really am tired of medications. I started taking this 4 days ago and already I feel small changes. I still have mini episodes of sadness but I am able to bounce right back. And my sleep, oh my goodness it is wonderful! For now, this stuff is wonderful and has truly given me hope and lifted my spirits. I now have confidence that I can beat depression and not let it get the best of me.

I started with the 100mg because I like to ease into things. I'm glad I did. I took one of these a day for a few days in the evening with food. I felt fine, it definitely seemed to start helping my mood after a couple days. I increased it to one pill in the am and one in the evening, but had to stop as this made me extremely nauseated. So I am back to one and it seems to be working just fine. I was on Celexa for a few years, then I weaned myself off of them. But after almost 2 years of being off the Celexa completely I started feeling down again all the time, teary and just plain sad. Things I would have taken in stride, really bothered me. This 5HTP seems to help me as much as the Celexa was back then. If you choose to start taking this instead of taking prescription antidepressants, start with a lower dose and work your way up if it doesn't work after a few weeks. Also do NOT take a prescription anti-depressant while taking this. And also make sure you look up drug interactions to see how they interact with the 5htp before you begin. Some combos can hurt you. Be smart.

Started taking it and after 5 days of 1 tablet before sleep everyday, on day 5 my stomach felt really bad and started throwing up badly.
