Great brace for basketball
My son dislocated his ankle last January playing high school basketball. After a few months of healing and rehab he ran the last track meet of the school year and cross country season using a lace up style brace ... he really disliked it. His physical therapist recommended a hinge style brace, especially for the upcoming basketball season. We started off with one of these and he really liked the comfort and support it gave. The new shoes from Nike arrived for the new season and the whole team had mixed feelings about them. They really liked the insoles and grip, but hated the lack of support in the ankles. After a couple of more sprains (none as bad as my son's dislocation, thank God) the whole team is now wearing an assortment of ankle braces to prevent further sprains. My son now plays with two of the Active Ankle Volt braces and is very pleased with them.I have no idea why Amazon doesn't fix the heading on this product. For some reason it comes up showing the T2 product name when you put it in your cart. When it arrives it is indeed the Volt.

Great for protection but poor on durability
I use these to play basketball and find plastic molded support to be much more protective then lace up braces. I purchased two for support of both ankles.I loved using these braces and they provided very good and comfortable protection. However after 12 months of use (not daily but just a couple times a week) one brace broke where the side arm meets the lower foot pad. I checked the other one and it is also in the process of breaking (partially cracked) at the same location. For the money I wouldn't expect these to wear out.Great for protection but poor on durability.

Totally Worth It!
I hurt my ankle during volleyball practice while blocking (worst thing EVER) and I had seen other players wearing this so I got one too. I truly believe it helped my ankle heal so much better. At first I actually wore another brace underneath because i was scared, but a few months later I still wear it but on it's own. It's super comfortable and adjustable to your needs. It made me feel very supported while I played and wasn't stiff at all. I love how it came with a pamphlet showing exercises to help you heal! It arrived quickly, in good condition, and looks durable enough to last me far into the future. Thinking of getting another one for my other ankle just to be as safe as possible.

Amazing Ankle Brace, but doesn't last.
As ankle braces go, this is amazing. Best I have ever used.Unfortunately, they break.Mine has just broken where the bottom-side support meets the bottom cross piece (that goes under the foot).I'm reading a bunch of other reviews where the same thing has happened.I read on one post that the manufacturer replaced theirs, but I can't figure out how to do that. (Anyone know?)Anyway, bought mine in Oct-2014. Broken Mar-2015 (5 months of 2-3 times a week usage). Not BAD, but not great considering the price.I will probably buy a replacement (if I can't figure out how to get in contact with the manufacturer). But, not happy about it.Word to the manufacturer: Find a way to reinforce that bottom part. There's enough reviews here with the same issue that you're getting a reputation. Not the good kind. I honestly want to give you a 5 star review. These are amazing when they are whole.UPDATE: I bought two braces (one for each ankle) together in October 2014. This review was originally written because the brace I used on my right ankle broke. Well, the one bought for my left ankle just broke (March 30, 2015). So, they both broke in the same month. Meaning, these have roughly the same life span. So, expect these not to last more than 6 months of regular usage.

Works great for me
Absolutely perfect for my needs. I use the Volt brace for mountain unicycling, and needed a brace with full protection that would not rub on my ankle bone. I use them with the 5ten low profile shoe, and couldn't be happier with this brace. It's easy to get in and out of, and I placed the foot rest under the shoe's sole, so it makes it even easier.I had the earlier version and it did rub the outside bone to the point where it would red and sore after each ride. No longer the case with this brace.

The quality is not great. Similar to other reviews
Quality is terrible. One of my braces broke after only about 10 times of wearing it. Last night, my other volt brace broke in the exact same place. Obviously there is an issue with the plastic as they should last much longer than they do. I also found that they are very difficult to break in. The plastic on the inside of the foot digs in and is very uncomfortable. I tried wearing it below the insole and above. Neither way was comfortable.I will go back to the T2's. I used those throughout high school and college volleyball and they would last for several years. I'm hoping the quality of that style is still what it used to be.

Broke after 7 months of infrequent use
I have worn active ankles or 20 years with great protection and long lasting support. However, the last brace broke at the bottom of the foot. That is a first. It broke in only 7 months of infrequent use. Not pleased with that at all. I will be replacing it with the new Active Ankle Eclipse brace.

Been using the Active ankles since they started making them in the 90s. T1, T2, etc. BEST ankle injury prevention brace!
I've been using the AA since the late 90s and will NOT play volleyball without them. With each new desgin they get lighter and easier to work with. I bought this latest model with the faux carbon fiber pattern 1 strap for my goddaughter since making it to the high school varsity VB team. She's says it's comfortable and after a few games does not notice it there. We both leave our active ankles on our VB dedicated shoes. 1, you shouldn't where your indopor VB shoes outside the gym anyways and 2, it takes a bit of time to adjust the brace to fit comfotrably. Once there you don't want to redo it everytime you put your shoes on.These have the best balance in mobility and protection. I highly recommend these over any other compression only or lace type brace for injury prevention.

I landed on someone foot a few times before getting this and it was bad.
I use these for basketball. Some people ask me if these make you slower. I think it's very minimal, and I'm ok with that because it saved my ankle at least twice. I'm not worried when I jump now, I landed on someone foot a few times before getting this and it was bad.RM

Very good item, sturdy protection!
Perfect to get confidence back after twisted ankle. I have twisted my ankle twice, worn this for a year and got ankle shoes now.Although the construction of the brace is great and permited full movement only forward and backward as it should be, the downside is that taking long time to put it (since is goes under the shoe sole) creates a habbit of warming up with it on, which doesn't allow the ankle to explore the full movement and might not warm up properly. But it is very well protected!
