You can see what connected devices are slowing down your LAN
I can finally see which devices are slowing down my gigabit network. This gigabit switch allows you to monitor each of it's ports. You can see what rate each connected devices is communicating at. This switch also allows you to set port priorities. Now I can see which devices need to be updated to increase the overall network throughput. I have four of these switches connected to my main router. I located each switch in a remote room to connect up to seven devices in each remote location. (One port has to be used to connect back to the router). I have been able to verify that my CAT5E cables are running at full gigabit speeds by monitoring the ports with an internet browser. You can monitor any connected switch from anywhere on your connected LAN (including via a Wi-Fi connection). These switches make it much easier to maintain my home network by allowing me to locate and then diagnose connection problems.

Good switch
Easy to set up. Decent build quality. If I needed another cheap switch, I would buy again. Not really a problem for me, but it doesn't do ipv6. Not really sure why. My significantly older cheap router supports it.

Good hardware, Rough set-up, Amazing support
After receiving a recommendation from my IT group, I purchased the TP-Link switch to round out my home network. The hardware was well made and sturdy. The initial set-up was tough. After attempting it myself, I jumped on a call with my IT group. We didn't make a lot of progress. From there I reached to TP-Link, Ronald Mikkel De Jesus was amazing. He patiently walked me through the set-up and by the end of the call everything was working great. He went way above and beyond, his knowledge of the product and network set-up was great. I applaud TP-Link for having people like Ronald on the their support lines, it was very easy to tell that he knew the subject well vs reading through a list of troubleshooting steps. As a result, I will be a TP-Link customer for life.

works well
i have one of these setup in my basement, it was fun and fairly easy to setup. (i do have some non networking technical knowledge) when setting up anything you dont understand you can google easy enough. it is pretty much plug and play though so you dont necessarily have to do much more of an entertaining thing to "play" with. i actually bought a second one for my upstairs with my consoles.

Not Secure
DO NOT BUY! This TP-Link, TL-SG108E device seemed like a good deal with VLAN and management capability. However there is no secure HTTPS interface. When you login to the web interface you must use http only. You user account and password are transmitted through the network in plain clear text. This is absolutely crazy. This was not acceptable in the year 2000. It is now 2025. I am done with all TP-Link products.
