Where to even start with this caviar
Let me just qualify what I am about to state by saying that I am not a newbie when it comes to caviar. I have been eating the stuff for decades from the days before farming. Farmed caviar from reputable makers is actually pretty good. This stuff certainly does not fall into that category.Let's see now, to find the word to describe this caviar offering .... AWFUL! Utterly awful! Bleedin', astonishingly awful!One of the reasons we pay, frankly, stupid money for such a tiny amount of eggs that come from a particular fish or whale, is that the taste is unmatched in any other food. It is unique, subtle ... like a fine wine. This stuff makes Blue Nun taste like Petrus!Looking at the caviar, so-so, cannot be faulted. Texture, okay. Initial taste hit, so-so. £79 ... hmmmm - I don't think so. But just one minute later, the aftertaste. My God - the aftertaste. An hour later, the aftertaste. It is like somebody has put a chemical factory into your mouth.I suspect the awful taste is down to too much borax being put into the eggs. I think these eggs may not be ultra-fresh and are being held together by untold amounts of additional chemicals. This caviar is like nothing I have ever tasted out of any kind of sea-life in the last four decades - and not in a good way. I'd rather eat live fire ants than this stuff again.If I were you, I would steer clear of this utter rubbish and if you really want 'caviar' on a budget, just buy that disgusting black lumpfish 'caviar' from your local supermarket - even it is better than this.Mon Dieu! I can still detect that awful aftertaste, hours later. Where's that Champagne to get rid of the taste .....
