Security
This is a very nice piece of machinery. Installing the wheels and feet took less than 5 minutes. The piece of foam padding in the box makes a nice kneeling pad while you're adding the oil (included). They include a spark plug wrench and an open end wrench in a tool bag. The oil capacity is 1.16 quarts. Oil comes in quarts so keep in mind that .16 quarts is a little under 3/4 of a cup. I added some gasoline and used the remote to start it. It started on the third cycle. I am super glad that I didn't have to pull the cord and am glad for the electric starter. The user manual is very well written with proper English grammar and spelling. The warnings are a little repetitive but you need to heed the warnings so that you don't kill yourself or someone else. This exact brand and model is rated as the best generator by Consumer Reports and Popular Mechanics which gave me confidence in my purchase. The ease of starting it, the quality of the brand reputation, and the quality of the generator itself gives me a sense of security. I live in a rural area that is forested and we have enough power outages that this will pay for itself by not having to suffer the inconvenience of no electricity.Be aware that the generator looses some efficiency at higher altitudes. The manual recommends that if you are over 2,000 feet above sea level that you should install the "high altitude kit". I'm at 1,600 ft ASL so I'm good but I was curious to know what that kit is and what installation looked like. It's a few gaskets, an orifice and costs about $15.00. Westinghouse has a very good step-by-step YouTube video showing you how the installation goes which. Installation require any special tools and little mechanical ability. Looks like it would take about 20 minutes to complete. If you're at a higher altitude, be sure to order the appropriate kit with your generator so that you're ready to roll when it's delivered.Delivery from Amazon was a pain. The first one "got lost". So a week later, another was delivered. This happened to me with a desktop computer not too long ago. I think there must be a thief somewhere in the supply chain. They give you a 12 hour time window 8am-8pm that someone has to be home to receive the delivery. Amazon said that the delivery driver would call before they came...they didn't. This unit is well over 200 pounds so you want to keep that in mind. It rolls easily once assembled.

Excellent Value!!! HIghly Recommend!!!
The overall quality of this generator is more than i expected. The features which include electric & remote start, both 30 amp & 50 amp capability make this a winner. Just for kicks, it pull started on the 1st pull! Excellent panel layout even for dummies. The ability to run on gas or propane make this an exceptional value. Bought this to replace a Honda 6500is quiet generator that was damaged in the hurricane. The Honda was close to $4,000 and had half of the output capacity. Honda is a great product, but I could not justify the high sticker price. Cannot comment on longevity, but highly recommend based on the experience so far. This unit should be just fine for occasional backup power requirements.

Excellent product so far, make sure to read the documentation
Our generator arrived yesterday, with freight delivery from Amazon. The box had some minor dings and bruises, and came strapped to a small pallet. Despite the dings to the box the unit was in spectacular condition upon arrival. The unit is a beast, and is super rugged. I was actually kind of amazed at how little wear it accumulated during shipping given its weight and size. It was larger than I expected. The first thing I would recommend you do is actually opening up all of the documentation and read through it. Seriously. All of it. The quick start guide has info that the main documentation lacks or contains but is unclear. The main manual has info the quick start guide lacks. Between the two of them every question I had about the unit was answered. Including how to unbox the unit safely. It weighs 200lbs and doesn't come with the wheels or feet attached, so that's important. To unbox you need to remove as many accessories as you can and then destroy the shipping box. I was a bit concerned since I didn't want to wreck the box in case of an issue. But this is one of those "don't return to store, call us" scenarios, and their instructions clearly state to cut the corners of the box. So have a box cutter/utility knife handy. Our original plan had been to unbox the generator in our driveway and then wheel it into our carport. Sadly since it turns out that the unit ships without the wheels or feet attached, so we had to quickly adjust and put them on. I would recommend a friend or family member being available for this. But once they are on, it is very easy to move around. Just note that this is the one place I saw conflicting info from the guide. The guide shows that there should be nuts to hold the feet in place. There aren't, they are welded to the mount point. Don't waste time looking for the nuts indicated in the picture in the parts bag, they aren't there. From there you just need to add engine oil (they provide 10w-30 for breaking it in), connect the battery, and add a fuel source. The oil dipstick is functional, but the yellow material could be a little hard to read if you are used to metal ones from a car.We connected a 30lb LPG canister with the included hose and it started right up. We plugged in a lamp to test, and it worked great. Noisy, but I mean, it's a generator. What do you expect? It's going to make noise. You're supposed to break it in for 5 hours at half capacity before really running at full load, so we will be doing that later this week.My only gripes are: the wheels weren't attached, you need to destroy the box, and the main user guide is so information dense that it can be hard to find everything and it can feel overwhelming (the quick start guide is a great remedy for that). The only other issue is that labeling the spark plug wrench would have been helpful because it really wasn't clear what it was for at first until I read through the guide and found the part list, and ID'd everything else. These are minor quibbles compared to everything else that is just right. The unit feels super sturdy, looks great, and appears to deliver on all of its promises. I'm looking forward to not having to replace a fridge and freezer worth of food the next time we lose power for days!

Great product!
I’ve been using the Westinghouse 12500 Dual Fuel Generator for a while now, and I’m seriously impressed. The dual fuel feature is a game-changer—being able to run it on either gasoline or propane gives me peace of mind during hurricanes or power outages. It starts up quickly with the push-button electric start, and the remote start is a great bonus. The power output is more than enough to run multiple appliances, lights, and even my AC unit without any issues. It’s built solid, runs relatively quiet for its size, and has a long run time. The display is clear and easy to read, and switching between fuel types is simple.Only thing I’d say is that it’s heavy—so definitely make sure you get the wheel kit installed. Other than that, this generator is reliable, powerful, and worth every penny.Highly recommend for home backup or job site use!
