Good for the money
Good replacement WiFi access point to use with Virgin Media Superhub 3 which delivers notoriously poor WiFi speeds due to a chipset bug. Uses Dynamic Frequency Selection if you switch it on, which will give you a totally clear 5GHz channel. Nice user interface, sturdy build, decent WiFi speeds - we get 300Mb/s throughout our terrace house.

They need to be re setup regularly…
Slightly cheaper than a proper router (such as the TP-Link this is trying to emulate), and when it work it is just as good. However, when using it as a range extender (one as a router the others are range extenders as advised) it will regually drop off, with the range extenders losing their pairing with the router and have to be set up again with the convoluted and hard to understand set up procedure. I wish I had not bought these and had just paid the small amount more to get a proper set.

Superb choice for typical users, but power users may be disappointed depending on needs.
Very good value and performance for the money. There are only 2 areas where I would like to see improvement (at this price point) but these won't affect the average user who just uses it for general connectivity in the home. #1- the antennas are not removable. This prevents the use of upgraded or external directional antennas and makes it less portable and more prone to breakage in transit. (I take this to a new venue every week) #2- the ethernet ports are mostly only 10/100 and only 1 is a gigabit port. This won't be an issue for most people but for a few people like me who need to shift large amounts of data very quickly between multiple machines its an unexpected blow.

Really easy to setup and performance is great
Purchased this unit because my sister-in-law was getting buffering on her TV. For some reason, her internet connection was upstairs in the loft and the wireless was struggling to provide a fast, stable wireless signal through two floors in her house. The setup process was really simple, connect the main device to the Virgin box using the ethernet cable provided, download the app and power it on and follow the instructions. THE WHOLE PROCESS TOOK 5 MINS FROM START TO FINISH. The signal was so much better than the original Virgin box, so now the TV doesn't buffer anymore and the 250Mbps connection she has is available throughout the house. The biggest challenge was moving everything over to the new SSID. Great product definitely recommend it to my friends.

Easy to setup, cheap but WiFi penetration poor
It is very easy to set up, very little to do for a basic working WiFi extender. The issue is signal from wifi, it is pretty poor. Their older model was far better, I put them side by side and had double the distance.

Great value Gigabit Ethernet and WiFi router
Was looking for a router with Gigabit Ethernet as well as being compact enough to fit into a cabinet in the hall. The management software, accessed through the browser, is good and was able to download and apply several firmware updates over the months I've had it. It has proved reliable, and a huge improvement on the ISP provided router. There's a great feature for scheduling a reboot every week which I think ensures reliability - I have mine reboot early in the morning on Mondays. And there's a decent feature that lets you prioritise devices for QoC. The signal is good - I used an Android app on my phone to see WiFi signal strength and using this was able to position the antennas in the most optimal way to get the best signal for both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. It's proven to be great to the point I forget about it and only ever log into the management console because my ISP router - now in modem mode - fails and I'm checking things over. The only small negative was that by default the firewall protections were not enabled. Do this as soon as you get it and you'll be fine.

Unreliable
Never worked correctly. Will set up OK but always drop. Not reliable

Not an easy set up if you are plugging it into a modem/router combo
AC1200 review This seems to have been made for when ISP's modems were separate from their routers. In which case the instructions are probably fine. However if your ISP's router has the modem built in, as most, if not all, have these days the included instructions aren't going to work. Or maybe cable modems are still separate but I don’t have cable so I can’t comment on that. I'm using a SKY router with a built in ADSL modem, I've turned off the wireless on that (it’s really very bad) and am using the D-link to provide the wireless and as an extra 3 LAN ports (3 because the sky router is plugged into one of them) If you intend to use your ISP's router/modem combo you need to ignore the instructions and plug the cable into one of the LAN ports, not the yellow internet port. You also need to ignore the warning on the router management configuration page that you don't have it set up correctly. If you don’t want to use it as a DCHP server either (which you won’t in the above scenario) you have to turn a lot of things off in the config. You need to give it an IP address in the same range as your main router. Turn off the internet settings Turn off the firewall Turn off UPnP Turn off the DCHP server (do this last or you won’t be able to log back in to the config page) It’s all a bit of a pain to get working properly. Once all that is done though it seems to work fine. I only just plumbed it all in so I won't review its features or durability.

Just FYI. More Antennas doesn't mean more range. It means more bandwidth . So people complaining about range are ***ts. 5ghz = Low range High bandwidth ( I get ez 100mbps) 2.4ghz = Long range Low bandwidth ( Max 50 something ) Supports Beamforming on client devices that support it. Works like a charm extending the range of 5ghz . Google Beamforming for more info. Absolutely the Best Router in market and the only one that supports Beamforming for this price. UI is super ez and amazing.

In summary: The concept of this mesh system is great on paper... But in practice, it is a real pain to get working... There's constant drop outs during the day between multiple devices where the devices connects and disconnects from the internet... It is frustrating when you're relying on stable connection for work. Do not buy, no matter how cheap it goes on sale. The tenda nova system it replaced worked better than this, at 1/3 of the price. Pros: Looks minimal, setup was simple, app is intuitive (but can be buggy), great speed (when it connects) Cons: UNSTABLE connections throughout the day, constant need to restart, unreliable, regret buying it.
