Great tool for Ford vehicles
Works with Forscan, was able to program a second key fob, replaced ABS unit and loaded factory config. Great tool for Ford vehicles.

Works as advertised
Received this to work hand in hand with ForScan. Connectivity was easy enough. Just download driver and get set. Had zero problems getting it setup with the instructions received with adapter and instructions reviewed on the seller's listing at point of sale. Quality of product seems good. Was able to retrieve all data from my Explorer quickly, and perform several tests on many systems. Found fault code in seat module that I was not surprised of, one of the motors malfunctioning. Found fault codes in rear windshield wiper that wasn't expecting. It's been malfunctioning for some time, and i had it diagnosed as needing to be reset. There were 2 fault codes fore the switch and 1 code for faulty motor. Had been concerned about something within the engine management but found all to be good after running some tests that this product along with the program made available. Am definitely a happy camper, would definitely recommend.

Works perfectly with Forscan and my 17 SuperDuty
I bought this for use with the Forscan program in making some modifications to my 2017 XLT F250. It works as advertised. I've been able to remove undesired, and add desired features to my Super Duty. For example, I turned off the chimes that indicate when a door is ajar, when the key is in the ignition, and the 3 chimes when you first key on the ignition. Ive added the "Hill Descent Control" feature with the use of Forscan & the installation of a $12 button, which is a feature found on FX4 packages. I am in the process of adding Powerscope/Powerfold mirrors to my truck, and without this cord, I'd be forced to hand the truck over to the dealership for them to activate everything. This has also given me the capabilities to view & clear DTC's. It will give you data logging capabilities as well but I havn't gotten into that yet. The only problem I had with this cord is, when it first arrived, the locknut on the HS/MS Can switch was loose, so I figured the switch was most likely not oriented properly. It took a few minutes of trying to connect to the truck to figure out that the switches orientation does not match the label. This is why it lost a star.

Does the job
Any OBD2 should be able to diagnose and 'fix' the problem codes. This does that. Many reviews say that the USB cable is flimsy. Mine is not. The switch could be better in location, as it is difficult to switch between the two modes. and too, the toggle switch seems cheap. Usage of this on a regular basis, I can see the switch going bad first. The LED do it's job as well, The indicators show what is being worked on at the time. For the money, this is excellent for a wired OBD2. My choice as I have yet found a BT or WiFi that accurately reads correctly. There are no instructions. Not an issue, if you have no idea how to use this, don't. No sense having a brick for a car because the one system change. An oops moment that you do not want. Software is a link on a biz card. The basics, unless you decide the membership part to unlock all the features to do a real tweaking on the vehicle. I bought a year for what? $10.. yes. It's worth it to open the software up for what you really need to do. One that really I needed it for was the Sync and the MyKey feature. With only one key, I did brick my Ford. I backed up the configuration in case this would happen, and I ended up having to make a key, because Sync has an issue with the one.. that is not a Admin key. The OBD2 w/software did it right by just resetting the whole system, giving me no Admin or Valet keys. MyKey no longer is enabled, thus PATS is disabled for the transponder. Now that it is gone, I can upgrade to a push button start. Again, if you do not know what you are doing, don't. I backed up my configuration, not difficult, but a little hard to find. Ford wanted to charge me 350 to remove the MyKey feature. I did it for 100. And I can use the equipment and software for a year, thus making me money. Especially since I figure out that nuisance of MyKey. Well worth the money for the hardware. Durable and small enough to wrap up and put in the glovebox.. or tool case.

2005 Focus this unit will do PATS
I purchased this so I could add new transponder keys to my 2005 Ford Focus 4dr 2.0 using Forscan. Using this hardware plugged into my laptop using Forescan, I was able to program keys as I wanted. I had previously purchased the keys and previously had them mechanically cut to match my working keys. I only had one working transponder key when I purchased this 2005 vehicle in 2016, I added two ignition keys using this hardware and the Forescan software. The purpose of my review, and my purchasing this hardware/software, was to make the software change to add my newly-cut keys to the "list" permitted to start the car. This device has a switch to switch between normal OBD2 and CAN BUS. Since my 2005 focus required only normal OBD2 I have not flipped this switch nor have i tested it on CAN BUS. I cannot report on CAN BUS or Focus newer than 2005. I have several other USB>OBDII adapters including the Auto Ingenuity Proline with GM enhancement. That hardware would not work for Ford and therefore I needed to make this purchase. Because I had several other devices previously installed on my Windows XP laptop (that never gets on the internet) I do not know if I can properly report on the driver installation. I can say that on my ~2003 era WIN XP laptop with several other OBD2 items installed, I only needed to install the simple serial driver provided with the hardware on this unit to make it work. This may or may not apply to you. This hardware shipped to me with a sheet of paper full of links to web addresses of drivers. I downloaded and installed the windows XP driver and it worked perfectly first try with no issues. In conclusion, I know from experience how difficult it is to get conclusive answers about hardware/software for Ford especially with PATS, and I wish I could be more helpful. I can report this unit will do PATS on a 2005 Focus, without flipping the CAN switch as of 12/7/2016. I used my [...] account to get around the timer. You can do PATS with or without [...] account. Beyond that I can not provide any verifiable facts. I have not tried any other tests or "service items" other than PATS with this software/hardware on my 2005 Focus. Use at your own risk. I would definitely purchase this unit again for my needs. It was well packed, and shipped quickly.

Defective and Obsolete.
Unfortunately zero stars is not an option. The device would not connect to any computer I attempted. The website listed for downloading drivers no longer exists. They sold me a device that is broken and unsupported. I returned it and was charged a damaged item fee. Amazon corrected this but this third party seller still made profit for selling defective product. Amazon lost out on the fee.
