Q: How high above the tank will these hold the lights?

It will hold it about 7-12". I don't know exactly I'm not home. But it has 2 different adjustments for height of your choice. Both are effective for tanks. You will not have no problems with lightning/ coral growth. As I have not since owning them.

Q: Can this mount any kind of light?

the brackets it are for made for the Orbit led light . If you make your own brackets and watch the weight you might get away with it, just be careful

Q: I have ordered for 36inch to 48inch current usa marine led system. Will this bracket/fixture hold the light unit?

Yes it will work, you will need 2 of them.

Q: Good for 24" deep aquarium or should i find longer arm?

The light brackets hang out over the tank 13-14". A 24 " tank would require only 12-13 " from the back to be centered over the tank. I would say these brackets should do the job unless you want the light over the front half of your tank. I really like the brackets. I have them over three tanks. If you order them and don't like them, Amazon always gives you 30 days to return them. I have two brackets over a 6' long tank and it's plenty strong enough.
