Works as intended.
Bought a 17 year old Lancer that had a very hard-to-turn climate control knob, quick internet search lead me to this product. Got it installed following some YT videos and now I don't fear breaking the knob everytime I change the temperature control.

Works on 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer
Took about 20 minutes to put these in and now I can change from hot to cold easily. Amazon fitment detector says these don't fit my Lancer but this is false, it fits.

Love my Lancer but the fact that I have to ...
Love my Lancer but the fact that I have to replace this part is the reason I won't likely every buy a Mitsubishi. The part should have been replaced by a Mitsubishi recall. I have no idea how they managed not to be forced into recall. If they ever step up and offer service to existing customers, I may one day buy a Mitsubishi again; but it's been this long, so likely not going to happen. This part dramatically improves the function of the heater control. It's a must have if you have the old linkage in place. Without replacing this, your heat selector knob will eventually break off. Not a question of if, but when. Again, this will dramatically improve the ability to turn your heat control knob, but you must put sufficient grease on it when you swap it out, or it will still bind. I'm guessing the poor reviewer did not put on enough grease. There are youtube videos that show how to replace this, as well as the heat selector shaft/knob if yours has already sheared off. If you watch the videos, either project is about as complicated as changing a tire. If you don't watch the video, it's difficult to figure out.

Didn't work.
The item was shipped promptly, was well-packaged, and was priced fairly, although not an outstanding deal.It was not all that difficult to install, but it did not solve the problem it was intended to solve. Apparently, dust builds up on the mechanism that opens and closes the air blend door inside the heater box, causing it to stick. This arm and gear assembly is supposed to increase the mechanical advantage one has in operating the temperature control knob on the dash. It may do that, but not enough to cause it to operate correctly. Mitsubishi says if this item does not solve the problem (and I understand it may work for some), the next stop is removal of the entire dashboard and the heater box, disassembly of the heater box, and replacement of the air blend door, in addition to customization of the HVAC unit for installation of a cabin air filter to keep dust out. That's rated as an 11 hour job, IF done by a trained Mitsubishi tech. There was no way I was going to do that. I bolted a 6-inch metal handle to this mechanism to allow me to open and close the blend door. Yes, I have to reach under the dash a bit to do it, but it works.Nice try, Mitsubishi, but epic fail.If you have a sticky, hard-to-turn temp control knob, this item is worth the price and the effort to install, but do understand that it is NOT a guaranteed fix.

Problem Solved
Sticky temperature control door resulted in a broken control knob shaft. (My kid comes from the “if it’s stuck, force it ‘till it breaks” school of mechanical engineering). New design greatly reduces stress on the control knob. Hot/cold air selection is restored!

Not happy.
This product arrived broken. I have decided to use the original ones since they were in better condition. Very disappointing.
