This is a thick, paste-like food coloring and is very RED. I ordered it to make a red velvet cake for my husband's birthday but realized I should have ordered more. I used up all of the food coloring in the small bottle and had to add some other red food coloring to make up the difference. It didn't seem to make a difference in the vivid red color of the cake, but I suggest ordering more if you are using it for a red velvet cake.

As expected. Vibrant color, but you have to add a lot to get true red. No bitter aftertaste.

Today I made a buttercream frosting using a different brand pink gel food coloring and wasn't satisfied with the color or taste. I remembered I had this red gel food color from 2 years ago. Aside from some natural dehydration/thickening, the gel worked wonderfully and made the perfect pale pink with NO taste! I highly recommended this product! It made a vibrant red when I first used it, again with no bitter taste.
