Reliable worker
We picked up most objects we'd move around the house, told the robot to map the house, and profit every time it runs. This thing reliably navigates our house and most obstacles every day. We have carpet and tile, and it seems to do fine vacuuming both even though we have it set to normal vacuum power. Speaking of power, it seems much quieter and more effective than it's (more expensive) competitors of its generation. Again, we use normal vacuum power, not max, because it is quieter and more effective than our experiences with Roborock S5, iRobot Roomba with the double rollers and camera, and others. We really like the thing. It picks up plenty of dust, dirt, fur and hair every day. The self-empty feature is so helpful for any floor larger than a couple decent sized rooms. I'm quite impressed with it's navigation. When I pick it up to move it out of my office before a meeting, I press the clean button and close the door, and it seems to determine it's location in the house within a few seconds. We tried many more expensive robots and found them lacking for what we want--reliable, no cameras, easy to maintain. This little thing does the job and does it well. Impressive machine.

Upgraded model! Adds CleanEdge
The new version of the Shark AI Ultra Xl swaps out one side brush for the new CleanEdge blower. You can recognize the new version by the two light gray sections on each side of the vac, just behind the front bumper (see pictures). Most of vendor sites and YouTube reviews have not caught up to this new feature addition. Indeed, Shark has not done a great job getting the word out about and the new feature doesn’t even really jump out at you on the box art if you don’t know what you are looking for. When I first opened the box to unpack the vac I was initially disappointed to see only one side brush and that the motor attachment for the right side brush was now gone. My initial reaction was that Shark pulled a fast one and cut corners after the vac received so many good reviews. But that does not appear to be the case. Instead they replaced the right side brush with a blower to blast dirt away from walls and corners where side brushes can’t otherwise reach. Indeed, side brushes a notorious for pushing debris into edges and corners (hockey stick effect). They call the blower CleanEdge and you can find info about it on the box if you look closely enough. But again, many vendor sites and video reviews still show the old model with two side brushes and no blower. The CleanEdge does seems to work pretty good on hard floors, which I have a lot more of than carpet. So this is a bonus for me. I’m not sure if it’s as ideal as having two side brushes for people with a lot of carpet. Time will tell. I am sure some will ask why they didn’t keep both side brushes and add the CleanEdge blower, but I suspect the answer is a combination of cost control (not increasing price) and battery life. Dropping one side brush also probably doesn’t affect performance much, and may even improve it a bit depending on your needs. Programming just alters how the vac approaches edges to ensure a the side brush is always facing the right direction. And as I mention above, side brushes can hockey sticke debris into edges and corners a robot vac can’t reach. Adding an edge blower is a better way to counter that hockey stick problem than just adding more hockey sticks. Anyhow, I wanted to post that I am happy with the upgraded model for my needs. However, depending on what you prefer (second side brush, or edge blower), you might need to do some added digging on vendor sites to see which model they are now shipping.

WHAT’S INCLUDED: 1 Shark AI Ultra Robot, 1 XL HEPA Self-Empty Base, and 2 Side Brushes. Note it states there are 2 side brushes. When the initial order arrived and I open it and began following the enclosed directions, I realized that the directions did NOT match the product. E.G. Directions showed 2 side brushes the product had a single side brush and the apparent port area for the second brush was sealed over (a different floor panel installed). Further, the directions indicated an "on/off" button on the back of the base. Again, no button and the area was sealed off. Thinking it was an error in delivery, Amazon issued me a replacement. It was exactly the same. It too has been returned. What possible use is a robotic floor vacuum with a single side brush?? Ordered and received a NEW version (not refurbished, as the 1st 2 were) opened the box AGAIN there is a single side brush, as in the refurbished models, and no on/off switch. As noted it is not as advertised. I will give it a try, but I expect it to be substandard. Not acceptable for the price. Beware, of this particular item. It is a replacement for a refurbished Shark, that finally wore out. I was VERY happy with the job it did.

Technology in this robot is awesome - I am thrilled
I bought this unit after over analyzing and research due to mixed reviews. Have owned Roomba for years. I am elated with this unit. I had zero problems with set up which was a concern with the wi-fi in a condo. I ran it first without mapping. The mapping honestly was amazing. The condo has bedrooms on opposite ends plus a sitting area plus half bath at entry. It got it right the first time. The floor is all marble with lots of rugs. The first time it ran was mostly on the rug, then went and dumped itself, and proceeded to run again. I have a dog that sheds a lot. Pros: Not noisy compared to Roomba except to dump which takes seconds. Great suction and manages several rug heights. Technology for mapping, covering the floor in total even with restarts, and emptying itself is fabulous. No bags required. See below on the cons - was able to set that area as a no-go zone and still do the master. For mapping, was able to easily merge areas that were not square or rectangle, or odd shapes to label as the family room. Cons: I have a high shag rug in the master that the twirly thing got hung around. It maybe just because it was first run and kept turning but I don’t plan to use it on that rug. Cannot schedule by room at this time. For now, I just start the family room when I go to bed. It takes a recharge to finish it but that is ok since it is at night. Battery will only go to 40% and it takes it back to recharge. I have not found where you can reduce.

Great vacuum but the app could be better
I've been very skeptical on robot vacuums since they first game out but I've been very impressed with this one and it's clear the technology has massively improved since then. I've waited 2 months before writing this review. The robot itself, I give 5 stars but the app has several things that could be improved. First, the good. The robot seems to have plenty of suction for me with 3 settings (eco, normal, max) plus the Ultra Clean setting and spot cleaning. I have all hard surface floors with two rugs. I always use the max setting and my house is small enough that the robot can do my whole house in one charge. It does a good job navigating my house when going from room to room and very cleanly makes it's way back to the base when it's done or needing to empty the vacuum mid job. I was pleasantly surprised that it was able to get over the edging for my kitchen as it's likely a tad over the max height limit of 0.75 inches that robot is advertised to handle. Sometimes takes a couple tries but it's yet to get stuck or fail to get over it. It does bump into some furniture and molding but so far has yet to scuff anything but itself and only on it's backside where there aren't any sensors. The manual states you need a fairly large open area for the dock but mine has done just fine having only about a foot of open space on each side. Another great plus is how easily this whole unit is to clean. The self cleaning brush roll does stay tangle free for the most part but if you have longer hair, you will need to pull it out every now and then. Thankfully Shark made this super easy to do. I love the bagless base unit and the vacuum and base pop open without any tools for cleaning. However if you have a pet, I'd say the base handles 30-45 days before needing to be emptied. Regardless, it's so easy to do that I wouldn't mind emptying it after every full use cause it's that easy and simple. Now the bad. The app could use some improving. First, I found out the hard way and after days of frustration, that this robot has a character limit for wifi network names. I had a longer wifi network name which was preventing the robot from joining the network. I have several other smart home products and none of them had this flaw. Once I renamed my wifi network to something shorter, I was able to connect without further issue. Next, while I don't expect this thing to make perfect maps of my house on a single "exploration", there's no ability to improve the map. You either accept what it finds or have it start all over. The app should allow you to have the robot further explore a certain area you want it to make a more accurate map of. Next, the app won't tell you the progress of the cleaning job. The app doesn't tell you which rooms it's done cleaning, what progress for the whole job has been made, or progress within a specific room. Thankfully, these could all be remedied with updates so get to it Shark! Overall, I'd definitely recommend this robot for anyone looking for a robot vacuum.

You need this if you have animals
Purchased on a black Friday deal and have no regrets. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and this has been amazing at helping me to keep up with the fur trails in the house. We have hardwood and tile throughout with a couple of area rugs. I previously had an older model Shark that just bounced around everything. It did ok, but missed a lot. I didn't realize how much it missed until I started using the new one. Set up and operation is fairly easy. There is a little bit of a learning curve with the app set up and marking your rooms, but once I figured out I could zoom in, that helped. I can't believe how much more surface area this robot picks up compared to the old model. The robot vacuums around the perimeter and then vacuums like it's completing a strip and grid search in your room. It will empty itself if it gets full and will even re-charge and re-start if it needs a little robot nap. The self-emptying feature is pretty cool, so you don't have to empty each day. I especially enjoy the ability to spot clean an area or only certain rooms. You don't realize how convenient until you use it! We have had to clean the roller out about once a week for some wrapped up hair, but that is to be expected and is very easy to open the flap and take out the hair. Don't forget to check your filters as well, as it's easy to forget with the self-emptying function (out of sight/out of mind). Overall, worth the price for the extra help around the house. It is definitely earning its keep.

Great vacuum definitely recommend!
I was very skeptical about getting the shark rv2502ae after reading all of the negative reviews, but I’m so glad I did! The vacuum isn’t as loud as everyone makes it seem- it’s quieter than a normal upright vacuum. It does an amazing job on hardwood floors, low pile carpets/ rugs, and high pile carpet/ rugs at getting all of the dog hair, human hair, dust, dirt, and debris. We have 2 dogs- one doesn’t shed and is hypoallergenic (malshi) and one large dog who sheds like crazy (Kelpie mix), and a kid who he and his friends are constantly bringing in dirt. The new edge cleaning feature really does an amazing job at getting all of the corners and along the walls. I only had to map my house out once and it got an accurate mapping right away (be prepared to run around and move all furniture that you typically would move to vacuum, you have to be quick because the mapping is quite a fast process). The only down side is it takes 6 hours to charge for an hour and a half (ish) of run time and for 150sq ft it takes about 20 min to do its job. ***Also let me save you lots of research time- this new version only has one side brush because of the blower- the old versions had two and Amazon and a lot of other places haven’t updated that yet- but it says on the box if you look closely so don’t worry when you only see one brush like I did lol. Overall, I’m so happy with this purchase! It’s an amazing robot vacuum!

Not their best model
My vac stopped working within the first 3 months, it would leave the dock turn in a circle and go back to the dock. I spent hours on the phone with customer service doing resets and reprogramming, and after several attempts they identified to send back for a replacement under warranty. First, I was sent a model which wasn’t what I had, then finally working with customer service they sent the right one. I had to pay shipping for all these returns. This vac has lasted about a year & 1/2. At first it was skipping rooms, which I was ok with as they are rooms that don’t have daily traffic, but as I ran my vac nightly in the family room where my 4 dogs primarily are during the day, I send to do one room, he gets lost going through several rooms before it finds the right room. During normal runs, the vac seems to get confused and will run in circles for about 10 minutes. The Lidar doesn’t seem to work at all, it hits every object in front of it, even when it is a couch or the TV stand that is tall enough to view. I never had a problem with the noise level, and with an almost 2000 sq.ft. Home the battery will last to get about half done then charge and finish. Suction is fair, it picks up great on the hard floor, although the edge function which is supposed to blow air to push dust/debris away from the wall to pick up is not as expected. I am cleaning up dog hair along baseboards continually. On low pile rugs it is decent, although I do have wads of hair to clean up every so often, and it doesn’t like to pick up fallen leaves from indoor plants (even small leaves). Deep pile rugs, don’t expect to get anything other than surface. I have had many Shark appliances, from upright vacs to the robo vac, and I was not impressed with this model. I will be getting a roborock to replace and hope it has better mapping skills, edge technology, and suction.
