Could Be A Good Upgrade
I wanted to rebuild my old Cannondale Suspension Frame, not much wrong with it apart from the old fox shock which does look the same as this shock but smaller and worn out, there where some things to take into account, one is the distance between the eyes the other is the spring rate, out of the three choices it was the 1000lb that was the one that was closest to fitting just being five millimetres to long but 1000lb spring rate is much to high for me anyhow I decided to go for it.The shock does look of good quality and capable of doing the job but I ended up needing to do a few mods, the first thing I found being an older frame is the bolt holes in the frame where too small and the supplied bolts would not fit, the second thing I found was that the bushes where too wide and even if the bolts did fit the shock would not, so first mod was using the bolts an inserts from the old shock which did fit this although a bit looser in the shock than I like so something I need to look at, the second was even though this was just a bit longer it would not fit but again I was lucky enough to have a shock extension bracket in my bits draw so fitted that and everything went together, just need some better bolts now.The last mod I did was probably the biggest and not shown in my picture and that was the spring it was just too higher rate, I put a wheel on the frame but could not get the rear end to move I loosened the preload on it but it did not make much difference so I took the spring off and put the spring of the old shock on and it worked a treat, the rate of that spring is about 650lb, so the only bit left is the shock body it has however increase the travel. It would be better if you could have a choice of shock length and separate spring rate so you could pair to make the perfect combination, but for those that want to upgrade or just replace an old shock these are good enough for the price.

Solid springs
Overall it's a good quality shock. The 1000lb version spring is very hard and thick! Its 1.5times the thickness of my original spring that was rated for 750lbs.However the sizes are not correct.I needed at 150mm, but there isn't an option. So I got the 160mm instead.Well the 160mm is actually a 165mm, with a 160mm sticker on the box.Basically the 160mm and 165mm are the exact same thing.Regardless it made little difference when installed on the bike. The spring compresses when you sit on the bike anyway. And you can also adjust the spring rate.Just be prepared to use a tool of some kind, because you won't be able to use your hands. That huge spring really locks in that adjuster ring.So yes...if your looking for a good spring. Can go wrong, its very good.
