Love/Hate relationship
First... I am a male who grooms/manscape... my back, lower stomach, underarms and trim around the package. This will hurt like a sun-of-a-gun the firs time you use it. Try ibuprofen and Tylenol an hour before... even sunburn spray (let it soak in for 10 minutes, then wash it off). The second time you do this it will be better (3-4 weeks later), but still... After that it no longer hurts, in fact hair grows back thinner over time, and on my back, has almost been permanently eliminated (I wasn't expecting this). What I like: It doesn't hurt like most competing products (my wife and I have tried them). It has lots of tweezers... which speed up the process (and limits the time you are uncomfortable). It fits well in my hand and gets easily into most nooks and crannies.Make sure that you wash off (with plain soap) and dry before you start. Any lotions/oils or fancy soap residue will limit the ability for the tweezers to grip and work. Once you are done, get some of those rough shower exfoliating gloves and use them on the areas to reduce the possibility of ingrown hairs. What I don't like... I buy a new one about every year and a half or two. There is a nylon gear inside the assembly that wears down, and they don't offer a replacement part. Having said that, since this works so much better than competitors, it is well worth the recurring replacement.

This product does not last long...what a shame. Works great for a short time.
I have used an epilator instead of shaving for nearly 30 years. My first one lasted me over 20 years and was not this brand. I have used a couple more since my first one stopped working and then I received this model as a gift a little over a year ago and it worked good for about 6 months. I hated to tell the gift giver that one side stopped spinning while in use and then they both gave out as it was a gift. I have since been going to the Wax spa and getting full leg and brazilian waxes. Just now I told my friend why I was not using the epilator anymore and I told him. I am now on his laptop shopping for a new epilator as I know that if you get a good one they do a wonderful job...all over! Out of curiosity I checked out this brand to see ifi maybe they had got the "bugs" out and replaced plastic gears so they would last longer than a few months. Had I given a review after using this epilator after first couple of months I would have given it 5 stars and a RAVE review.....oh well. Time to shop!!!

Just bought my second one after years of use
I like to take the safety guards off my epilators. This model doesn’t allow for that, but is ok.I just purchased my second one after years of use; of my first same model.Eventually one side wasn’t pulling as well.I epilate bikini, upper legs, armpits. It goes through a lot lol. This is NOT a Wet model. Dry use only. This is a plug in model. Which I have come to prefer…Is it painful? Yes, area dependent.Does it last? Yes, area dependent; 2-6 weeks. As you use and keep using an epilator over time, bald patching may evolve. It may also become “less” painful.Oddly enough, around your period cycle nerves are more sensitive and epilating can be a little more painful.I stopped going to public places for waxing when one trip I saw blood in the wax pot. The tools are changed, but wax is used till the pot of wax is used up on all customers. Not cool to see hot blood swirled around in the hot pot, I was out. Think about switching, or buy your own messy wax kit… epilating is a slower process, but put a towel down, have a “drink”, watch a movie, zone out and get it done.Think tattoos, or kitten scratches! You will have bumps and redness after epilating from each hair follicle. You may feel a sunburn like feeling. I prefer baby powder than lotion after epilating. This will fade by the next day…but plan ahead if you’re new to this process.Never use around your eyebrows/eyes.Clean with a slightly damp alcohol pad.You don’t want to epilate your privates, then do your lip….think clean!Good luck

Maybe i got a dud
I’ve purchased a few of these over the years. The plastic wheels always seem to melt after awhile. So when I repurchased this it just didn’t seem to have the same power and wasn’t as good as my previous ones. I even compared it to my old one and it still had more power and was more efficient than the new one I bought so I returned it. I’ve always loved this model so maybe I just got a dud or something. It *does* hurt pretty bad the first time you use it, but after the first use it really isn’t bad. And the smooth legs for weeeeeeeks makes the minimal pain totally worth it!

Will never ever ever use anything else as a fill in between waxes
Been a brand supporter of Emjoi for YEARS since discovering it as a QVC today's special value a zillion years ago... And the ONLY reason that I needed another is because I got stupid rough with the one that I had gotten and used since then, without fail. (AND I absolutely appreciate that in some ways I now have 2 that are completely functional, because I can separate and Frankenstein it with the new parts and it works beautifully!) In the interim, a helpful family member grabbed me another brand to try... believe me, there is literally no comparison. What you might reject spending for this is NOTHING compared to the lasting and effective work horse at your disposal. On top of that, the company is amazing and will help address any issues, regardless of how you came about it (i.e. here rather than from them directly)... Honestly, worth every cent and more.

Did not work very long.
Worked well for about 7 months, then the tweezers randomly stopped turning despite the power still being on and the motor whirring. Had to turn it off, turn the tweezer heads manually once or twice, then it would work for a few passes, and stop again. Very disappointed. Should have lasted much longer for the price. I've tried many brands over the years, including Braun, Phillips, Panasonic, Emjoi, and Conair, and this one broke sooner than any of them.
