Rustichella d'Abruzzo Durum Wheat Fregola Sarda Pasta, 17.6 Ounce (Pack of 2)

I had none of the problems expressed by other reviewers. My Fregula Sarda arrived fresh, and with an expiration date a year from arrival. The Freguala arrived in strong paper packages which were both enclosed in a plastic bag - no breakage or leakage.The flavor of the Fregula Sarda is more robust and flavorful than Israeli couscous (which is about the same size). The individual pieces have a somewhat rough texture, so sauces cling better. I thought the flavor was fabulous, but my partner, the pasta-lover in the family was over the moon. We served it with roasted wild mushrooms and garlic, and it was the perfect foundation.One thing - the package says to cook according to the package instructions (but there were no other instructions)! I didn't time it but was surprised how long it took to cook given the size of the pieces - about 15 minutes. Well worth the wait. We just ordered more.

Rustichella d’Abruzzo is a premium fregola from a reputable top class pasta manufacturer. Abruzzo is well known for excellent wheat grown from fertile soil and spring water. Rustichella makes the most of this environment. The fregola is lightly toasted (as is should be) with a rough surface which is ideal for flavor absorption. Par boil in water first to a few minutes before Al Dente. Drain and add your favorite stock (lobster, seafood or meat). Add vegetables, seafood or meat and continue cooking. The results are astounding.

Excellent Pasta!

Excellent product but a bit overpriced (the only reason I'm docking a star). I'd buy it more often if it was closer to $10 or $11 a pack (it's over $13 now).

Make this with fresh or frozen sweet corn, 1 diced avocado, pearl mozzarella balls, halved grape or cherry tomatoes, and your favorite vinigarette. Yum!

I love this pasta. It has a hearty flavor and is the best I've had in a long time. Prepare it a variety of ways. Love each and every recipe with this included

Great product with fast service!!

This pasta is delicious in large part because of its rough exterior. It hangs onto sauces better than Israeli couscous or orzo. I've had it warm and cold and like it both ways. The flavor is fairly mild, a little toasted, and works well in any dish where you would want very small pasta. I recommend doing as the package says and cooking for al dente - a minute or so before the recommended time. The package says to cook for 14-17 minutes and I've found that 14 tends to be just right, 12-13 when adding the pasta to a warm sauce.
