Good book for those who suspect they might have Hashimoto's ...
Good book for those who suspect they might have Hashimoto's or have already been diagnosed with it. Tons of information to absorb and breakdown. I read the book in a couple of days and am still trying to understand parts of it. As it turns out, I do not have Hashimoto's now but my doctor thinks I might have had it in the past. I do have full blown hypothyroidism and I am now taking T3 only to eliminate excess T4 and reverse T3 issues from taking Synthroid for the past 10 months. I recommend this book for those looking for answers and information about hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.

It's a must have for a solid medical foundation
This book explained hypothyroidism in a way that my doctor has never done. He told me my autoimmune system will eventually completely destroy my thyroid, like it's a foregone conclusion. That may or may not be true, but I don't want to sit around doing nothing in the meantime. Dr. Zaidi's diet options are more liberal than in other books (he allows night shade vegetables), but it's a must have for a solid medical foundation.

Very useful information backed up by a number of case studies
In this book the author, an endocrinologist, talks about two different hormones (T4 and T3) generated by thyroid. Traditional treatment is to treat patients by prescribing T4 hormone and rely on the body converting it to T3. His argument is that sometimes that mechanism is also faulty and treatment with both hormones is more productive. The book contains a lot of technical information and case studies. My family has a history of hypothyroidism which is under-active thyroid this information is something I am going to bring up with my mother's physician as her doctor has been changing her medicine without much improvement.Ali Julia review

Would highly recommend it and found it very informative and valuable
Had Thyroid removed unfortunately US medicine seems to be very old medical school "cook book" and not real Avant guard. This provided a new type of insight and treatments to follow including vitamins, medicine, diet, and labs - unfortunately my Dr. won't listen to the recommendations in the book so I am no where closer to getting weight issue resolved than prior to reading this book. Would highly recommend it and found it very informative and valuable.

Should Be On Every Medical Doctor's Desk
To the point and easy to understand. Dr. Zaidi is retired. I wish he could counsel me on what dosage of Armour I need to be on to feel my absolute best. Recipes include a lot of night shades which the Thyroid/Paleo community poo-poos.

Highly recommended
This book is packed with useful information. For the first time, Icompletely understand how to interpret thyroid blood tests, what thepit-falls are with normal lab ranges, what thyroid hormones really areand how they work in our body. Now I understand what really causes Hashimoto's disease. Dr. Zaidi'sinsight into how stress causes autoimmune dysfunction is compelling. For the first time, I learned the connection between vitamin Ddeficiency, stress, diet and Hashimoto's. I am excited to discoverthat Hashimoto's can be cured. My other endocrinologists had told methat Hashimoto's cannot be cured. It is pretty clear that Dr. Zaidi isnot a usual endocrinologist. He is a true scientist and does notblindly follow the status quo.The book is very practical. I learned why T4 alone does not work andalso, in what ratio T3 and T4 should be used. I have started followingthe diet recommendations in the book, which are easy to follow. Itmakes so much sense. There is also a long list of recipes in the end.I am also following Dr. Zaidi's insight into the stress of dailyliving and how to be free of worries that we all suffer from. I findhis discovery about how fear causes autoimmune disorder thoughtprovoking. After reading this book, I got the in-depth knowledge and answers thatI have been searching for. I highly recommend this book to those whoare serious about understanding their illness.

Really useful and interesting information from a different point of view
Really useful and interesting information from a different point of view. I've read a lot of books about Hashimoto, but this is the first one written by an endocrinologist with a lot of examples from his clinical experience. There are explanations in the book about the different test values, lab references, dosages, why some dosages don't work. I also found very interesting the psychological part- Hashimoto sufferers are eternal worriers (so true), and how to cope with the stress.

Very interesting and helpful
This is a very interesting and helpful, well written book. I would recommend this to help anyone understand hypothyroid problems, and to learn more about the rationale behind the full range of tests required and successful treatments, including key dietary guidelines. Easy to read and a useful reference guide on your journey back to good health.

Recommended.
A perfectly laid out book with knowledgeable, reserached, and experience backed information from Dr. Zaidi with well described cases from patients. Represents a different approach in treating thyroid disorders and puts a lot more light and hope for people to reverse the condition they suffer. Recommended.

Best book on hypothyroid I have ever read
Best book on hypothyroid I have ever read. Wish I had read this 20 years ago. Information I have not seen before wrote in a very easy straightforward way. After taking his advice to supplement VB12 and VD3 oral spray had almost immediate improvement in many conditions. Unbelievably much improvement in hearing loss which went 20 years ago. Also diet advice and recipies which I must try. Recommend.

Helpful and thorough
This is another fine book from Dr Zaidi. He provides reasoning as to the causes of hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis - as well as other conditions - and offers solutions. As a vegan, i disagree with the use of animal foods and other products discussed in the text, but Dr Zaidi provides alternatives to the medications he mentions. I also have doubts about his 'high carb' theory (given refined and unrefined carbs aren't the same).Despite these things, there is a wealth of useful information in the book, and i thank Dr Zaidi for passing on his knowledge!
