Gibson Soho Lounge Dinnerware set, Square, Purple, Service for 4 (16pcs)

I don’t normally review products, but I have to say that I love this set so much, I felt compelled to do so. It arrived with no damage. Item was packed well. Each set of 4 bowls, cups, and salad plates were in cardboard boxes with cardboard pieces in between. The dinner plates were in 2 separate boxes of 2 with a cardboard separator. All 5 boxes were packed in a box with additional cardboard fillers, so it was packed tightly with no wiggle room. The pieces themselves are fairly heavy. I’ve seen higher priced items that are heavier, but have also seen equal or lower priced sets that are much thinner and more fragile. I like the weight, as it’s not so heavy to be inconvenient but heavy enough to be practical. The color is beautiful! I am biased in that I favor purple in general, but I really like the shade of both the purple and the black. I feel like this set is plain and sturdy enough to use everyday, yet could really work in a “fancy” context for guests or special meal. Hope this helps if you are considering this set!

I got 2 sets, one red and black and one purple and black... The purple and black is pretty, the colors close to the pics on here. My red set was not however and on most of them the red is more of a rust color. Not nearly as nice as they look in the pics. I haven't had any of the issues with them chipping as others have had but I don't use any type of ceramic in the microwave no matter what is claimed because anything ceramic just heats up so bad in them and I tend to use the 20min quick wash option on my dishwasher as I rarely have anything dirty enough to warrant the 2hr wash with the sanitizing/high heat drying options. I love the shape and size of everything and I personally like the weighty feel of the ceramic. My only complaint is the rusty colored not quite red that was used. Maybe I just got an off set, idk. The 5 stars are for the purple set, I would rate the "red" at 3. *UPDATE* I've had them for over a year now and the only chip they have sustained so far is one that resulted from a bowl accidentally being dropped into the sink and hitting the rim of the ceramic dish from our large crock pot... Completely our fault and understandable. Anything made out of glass or ceramic/pottery would have broken or chipped hitting it. We have been using them in the microwave (no more than 2-3mins cook time for reheating) and they are being washed in the dishwasher (not using the heated dry option, I never use it as it has melted things in the past) and no damage has occurred. Overall I still wish the colors had matched better for the red set, but the quality of everything is great as far as we have seen.

I first purchased only one set of these dishes, as I had some concerns. My first concern was about the color, and if the purple would be appetizing with food on the plate. It is. The purple is a deep and subtle eggplant, which I have found flatters all food colors. My second concern was condition upon arrival. Several reviewers said that their dishes arrived chipped. I’ve now purchased two sets, and both were well baffled and padded for shipping. Each piece was intact when delivered. The third concern that I had was durability. Again, several reviewers said that they encountered chipping from everyday use, and going through the dishwasher. In over a month of daily use and going through the dishwasher, both sets remain in perfect condition. I highly recommend these dishes for both their beauty and quality.

Love the purple! They're so nice and feel durable. Only found a very small chip on one of the cups but you can barely see it. I'm impressed by the quality.

The first thing you notice is the packaging. When I opened the box I was surprised how well packaged everything was to preserve the dishes from breakage. I always worry about fragile items shipping through the mail but I have a Kohl's near me if I had to return this so I thought I'd take a chance this once. I'm glad I did. Next, the dishes were thick and heavy. Not super heavy to where you will wear out your arms but the type of heavy that resembles durability and quality. If you've ever handled a ceramic plate or Correlle plate you know how flimsy or extremely light these can be. They handle in the microwave well. The plate is warm to the touch while the food is heated to your liking. The other plates I mentioned you would need oven mitts to remove your plate from the microwave. The sizes of each dish are perfect. If you own a single serving keurig machine the cup size is perfect for the biggest cup setting with enough room to add some flavored creamer. If you're one who likes their food items not touching each other you can space out each item nicely on the dinner plates. The smaller plates are perfect for open faced bagels with cream cheese without overflowing on the plate. For those diet portion sizing these small plates are great for smaller meals. The bowls were slightly bigger than normal size bowls I've seen from other dish companies but I like them. You could either use them for cereal, soup, or holding your chopped up veggies you prepped for cooking. The only reason I gave this rating a 4 is because of the slight dimpling on the cups. (Pictures posted) The pics I posted were of 1 cup that had the most dimples. I did a close up on the same cup so you can see them better. The other 3 cups only had 1 or 2. Nothing too noticeable. The 4th cup I saw 15. I'm sure if you complained to the creators they would send you another cup. Regardless, I'm VERY pleased with the dishes. They're absolutely beautiful and functional for everyday dishes. What you see in the photo on Amazon is exactly what they look like in person. I'm usually wary of online shopping because that is not always the case but you get what you see with this product. As for price point, I use to work for Mikasa. If you know this company, they sell dishes, cups, stemware, serving plates, vases, and other decorative household items. The price of these dishes is comparable and reasonable. SOHO Lounge is a wonderful product. I would recommend them to anyone. In fact, I'm buying another set soon.

Todo vino en una caja sin rayaduras ni golpes, los eh usado unos 4 meses y siguen en muy buenas condiciones, son un poco pesados pero tiene sentido tomando en cuenta su resistencia, y el color es precioso. Si acaso podría recomendar que si no quieres que queden manchados después de lavar, pases un trapo absorbente o papel antes de que se seque por completo para que se vean mejor, si no tienes problema con las gotas de agua que quedan marcados al secarse pues nada.

First of all it was international shipping, with lockdowns easing im still surprised it got here so fast. Everything was safe as far as i could see, the colour, purple, is deep and beautiful. I showed mum and she wants a set in green now. Lovely, shipped well packed and timely arrival, i have no complaints. Thank you very much!

Absolutely love this set! Was a bit unsure after reading sone reviews but I'm so glad I went for them! Highly recommend this set!
