Not compatible with ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 dock, ThinkPad T480S, LG 24UD58-B
The instant failures of life are fine: they don't build up disappointment. This cable on the other hand, worked out of the box - for a whole hour. After I'd spent ages rearranging my desk, the monitor went off. That's strange, I thought. I disconnected it, and then reconnected it again. Then the monitor went off again. And again. I noticed the ends of the cable were incredibly hot when the cable was removed. When I switched back to the 50cm cable that came with the dock, I didn't have any more problems. An expensive waste of time and money. Having contacted the manufacturer prior to ordering this cable to check it would all work, I found it did not work so to me, this product is not fit for purpose.

Works great for TB3 eGPU
I was a bit nervous that a longer cable would degrade performance, since you're already trying to shove a PCI-E link down an external cable, but it seems to be fine. GPU-Z reports that the card is still PCI-E 3.0 x4 link and benchmarks of both cables show pretty similar results:Test system is an OC'd RTX2080 w/ Dell XPS 13 9370 (2018 model). Tested with Unigine Valley and Superposition benchmarks-- CoreX stock cable --Superposition 1080p Extreme6539 38.24 / 48.89 / 60.006567 32.14 / 49.12 / 59.42Valley 1080p Ultra4542 36.6 / 108.8 / 138.64544 36.5 / 108.6 / 138.6-- Caldigit TB4 cable --Superposition 1080p Extreme6571 37.22 / 49.15 / 60.366545 38.13 / 48.96 / 60.03Valley 1080p Ultra4502 33.6 / 107.6 / 138.64483 34.0 / 107.1 / 138.6Potentially a slight slowdown in Valley, but only doing two tests means this could be margin of error. It's also worth noting that this cable will allow me to position my laptop away from the giant heat source that is the eGPU, so that may improve things too.

Reliably drives a high refresh rate 4k HDR monitor.
Purchased to connect M1 Macbook Air and Razer Blade Pro laptops to a 4k HDR 10-bit colour 144 Hz monitor. It has done this flawlessly in both cases, and has been much more reliable than an HDMI 2.1 connection with the Razer. It has also reliably charged the Macbook via the monitor. The length has been very useful and allowed greater flexibility with positioning of devices relative to the monitor. The cable management with this is also made easier by the soft-feeling flexibility of this Caldigit cable. It is much more flexible, practical, and reliable than the HDMI cable that came with the monitor.Overall, I am pleased with the performance and quality. It could be that the price reflects the cost of producing an active Thunderbolt 4 cable, but it does feel very expensive for what it is - hence my overall rating of four stars (I would have given it four and a half stars if I could have).

great for connecting external GPU enclosures
Used on a Dell XPS 13 9380 laptop to connect to a Razer Core X e-GPU containing a nVidia 1060 graphics card. The (passive) cable that comes with the enclosure means that you'd need to have the enclosure right next to the laptop, with its' fans running close to where you're sitting. Using this cable you can have it on the floor tucked out of the way - both visually and in terms of the noise - and I've experienced no trouble whatsoever with this setup. Yes - as mentioned in other reviews - the plugs get slightly warm, but that's because they have heat generating components inside - and they've certainly never got too hot to touch. Expensive for what seems to be just a cable - but worth it.

Excellent Thunderbolt cable.
I use this with Thunderbolt 3 devices such as external SSD storage and video capture devices by BlackMagic and it has never failed. I have other TB cables which are TB3 and have had issues.I’m not saying that just because this is TB4 it makes it better than TB3 cables for TB3 devices but it is definitely the most reliable cable I have.I use this on a MacBook Pro M1 Max, which has TB4 ports. Maybe it’s the combination of the Mac’s ports with this cable that make it so reliable? I don’t know. However, the combination is perfect.I also use it with a couple of USB C SSDs and it’s flawless.Without a shadow of a doubt I would recommend this cable, it just works.
