Piece of Garbage!
I was introduced to su vide cooking by a friend and couldn't wait to try it. My "Kitchen Gizmo" arrived without the promised recipe book and with an upside down handle/clip. After one use, the temperature gauge didn't work. Su vide is great, but kitchen gizmo? Piece of garbage!

Simple, elegant and easy cleanup
I was pleasantly surprised when I found out I'd been missing out on a way to cook that saves time on cleanup and allows me to make things that I've never been able to make before. As to the latter, it could be just because the cookbook had easy instructions or simple recipes but no matter the case, my family and I love it.This type of cooking has evidently been out a while and I missed the initial "bus". Well, I got in gear and after looking at all the brands (there were a ton), I'm glad I went with this one because I've had no issues. The only issues I had concerned whether or not to use ZipLock style bags or cooking bags. There are 2 schools of thought on this and I recommend you research this for yourself as I will not dare promote the use of one type over the other. Some say the storage bags can leech out bad stuff but others say there is no concerns. Either way, you absolutely need to get some cooking bags or plastic food storage bags to use.Super simple: get recipe, put meat or veggies in bag, fill water in pot (at least up to the min line or you'll get an error), set time and temp...I love the timer, temp and controls in general. I also love the clamp. It works well and lends itself a versatility concerning a lot of different pots it will work with. The only thing that I wished they had included was a sample cooking bag or maybe a recommendation because that's been the biggest holdup. I understand why they didn't but not a big deal overall.Chicken and steak came out very well. I really really want to do creme brûlée but am not sure I've got the patience. If I do take that leap, I'll be sure to update the pics. Nice to know I've got that option, however.

It works fine
The media could not be loaded. So the picture above is the replacement for another one that is broken is the exact same place. I’m just going to keep this one because, as it turns out, it still works fine for what I need it for. Don’t want to wait for a replacement because I need it for a project and even with the clip broken it does work fine. Can’t recommend it with a clear conscience so that’s why the low rating.

Solidly made, quiet, seems to be a good value for the money, if you want to try sous vide.
This is my second sous vide device, and the first immersion circulator I've purchased. I started out using a simple Rival Crock Pot with a precise thermostatic controller from Dorkfood, also purchased through Amazon, and it worked fine for poaching eggs and small quantities of meats and veggies, well enough that I decided to move up to an immersion circulator that can handle a larger water bath for things like roasts, ribs, and leg of lamb. After reading a lot of the reviews here on Amazon, I settled of the Kitchen Gizmo and the best value for what I was willing to spend. I liked the looks of the Joule and the Anova, but I decided I don't need Bluetooth or Internet applications to cook, I much prefer being able to manually set the time and temperature on the device, without having to pull out my cellphone or turn on the computer. I got the Kitchen Gizmo on sale, and used some of the cash back from my credit card, so my out of pocket cost was only about $20, and at that price, this is a REALLY great buy. I've checked the temperatures with a separate thermometer, and the Gizmo stays within 1 degree of the set temperature. I use Ziplock Freezer Bags, with the water immersion method of removing the air before sealing, and have had no problems with them so far. For what I'm using it for, the manual control is all I need, and leaving off the Internet hardware makes it $100 less expensive than most of its rival sous vide devices. I only have two criticisms based on my experience with the Kitchen Gizmo: 1. The time and temperature setting switch is kind of fiddly, sometimes I have to swipe my finger over it several times before it will go to the next setting, and 2. There is no "hold" feature when the cooking is finished, it shuts off and goes into standby mode. Having it go to a keep warm setting would be an handy feature, but I didn't mark it down because it's not available. Overall, I like it very much.
