Great Home security system
I already had a mesh network created with 4 Eero Routers, working fine without any connectivity issues. I purchased this to add an additional router to improve connectivity on some of the smart devices outside home too, along with replacing my existing alarm system. The setup was pretty seamless, but right after I added this as the gateway router to my network, I started getting connectivity issues with my network. Every minute or so, the network keep disconnecting from my phones and other devices, and then it reconnect immediately after that. You wouldn't notice it usually, but if you are on a video call you can see the video freezes for sometime and then resumes. This keeps on happening every minute or so, making it unusable. I removed the Alarm pro from my eero mesh network and brought back the original 4 router mesh network I had, and then it started working good again. So it is definitely something with this Eero Built-in router. The issue happens even if I have my devices connected to one of the other nodes, so something is killing the entire network for sure. I spent hours with the Ring customer support to figure out the problem, and they were not able to fix the issue either. The security system seems to be working fine, but without having the network built-in, you wont get backup internet option, which means you are not getting what you are paying for the annual monitoring fee. I would instead go with a Simiplisafe system or if you really want to stick with Ring, go with the model without a built-in router. I hope Eero/Ring can find out the issue with this and send a software update for the same issue. Note: Resetting the entire system, adding and removing the routers back, or even creating separate network, none of that helps. Update. I tried powering off my original network equipment, and created a new network with the Ring Alarm Pro, with no other devices added. With this also I Can see the phone connected to this network keeps disconnecting every minute (even when standing right next to it with the phone.). Update Feb 2023: - Thank you for the Customer service and engineers at Eero. They took the feedback from this and now with the Software updates applied, the above disconnect issue is all gone. The network functions seamlessly. And with the newer updates you no longer need to have The Ring Alarm Pro's unit as the gateway unit. This helps when you upgrade your Eeros to the newer / faster versions. You would always want the fastest version to be connected to the modem. In case of an internet outage from the modem, the entire network automatically switches to LTE from the Ring Alarm Pro unit.

Plug & Play All the Way!
We finally bit the bullet and retired our 30 year old wired alarm system. The big boys wanted way too much money to provide a system that would integrate with our smart home features. When our old Smoke/CO detectors were finally reaching end of life we switched. We highly recommend the new Ring-compatible WiFi wired and interconnected smoke/CO detectors (most recently only available through Home Depot). The old Z-Wave connected detectors are quite frankly stupid and dangerous in that they are not interconnected. The whole point is to wake everybody up and get them out - the new detectors do that and were the deciding factor to the switch to the ring alarm. Installation was very easy as long as you followed instructions. Ring has also now modified their alarms so that they can sit behind an Eero router instead of having to be the primary router - a big plus since we have Max 7 Eero routers and the Ring Alarm only has a 6 or 6+ router at slower speeds. We mounted the alarm in place of our old alarm and ran power to the Ring keypads via our old alarm keypad wiring. This makes they keypads easier to see at night and eliminates the need to recharge every so often. Nice to have - but not a problem if you are not blessed with existing hardwire. We like the cellular backup on the plus version for security and have our Ring controller plugged into a UPS rather than using the Ring backup batteries. Ring's central station monitoring is second to none. We tripped the alarm a couple of times accidentally during installation and had calls in under a minute. Make sure if you have smoke and CO detectors that fire monitoring (most expensive plan, of course) is included. The Ring Alarm integrates with Alexa and locking/unlocking our Z-Wave door locks automatically turns the alarm on/off. We couldn't be happier.

Easy to install but the system is buggy
Update: I wrote the review below while still on on vacation. When I arrived home I found out that the power cord for the base station was damaged. My wife had found out while we were gone my daughter’s pet rabbit had gotten lose in our house and chewed the cord. The issues we experienced were not ring’s fault. My wife contacted ring and they are sending us a new power cord. I increased my review to 4 stars. I didn’t increase it to 5 stars because the replacement power cord is not available on Amazon so I could not just order one 2 day shipping. Also one downside to a traditional alarm system is the base is out in the open and susceptible to tampering like from a pet rabbit that is loose in your home. We have had a ring doorbell for years. We wanted to add cameras and upgrade our existing alarm system. Since we would be upgrading our ring subscription we decided to save on the monitoring fees and go with the ring alarm system. The system was relatively easy to install. I had to pick up some screws since the door sensors didn’t fit on the door casings well. The system once installed worked perfectly for a week. Then we left on vacation. The first day we were away the system started going in and out of battery power back up and internet back up. I eventually got stuck in back up mode and went off line. We then were stuck thousands of miles away with no alarm system, no cameras, and no internet at the house. Once this system gets stuck in back up mode the only way to fix it is manually hitting the rest button on the box. You cannot do anything remotely. It doesn’t help you at all when you are on vacation. This bug in the system is unacceptable for the price of the system and should be resolved by the company. There needs to be a way to recover the system remotely. This leaves our house totally unprotected and to make it wore lights for our pets work on smart outlets and do not work with the internet down. I would caution against buying this system if you leave your home on vacation or until this bug is resolved by the company.

Not a perfect system, but close enough for me.
We purchased the 14-piece system for our newly built house. The system was easy enough to setup and install. The good (mostly on the Ring system): 1. Easy to install and configure the Ring alarm system via the web or mobile app.. your choice. 2. Easy to expand to you run out of $$$. just press a button and the new devices that were lost and now found on your system. 3. Eero has safety settings for internet activity and logs for bandwidth testing, etc. Make easy to troubleshoot issues with applications and other WIFI devices. 4. Custom modes and arming options. You can create custom zones for your own needs to arm the system. 5. Kit is relatively cheap for currently security systems out there. 6. Battery replacement in the sensors are easy to do and cost is not that high.. just a few button batteries and the system tells you if any are low. A few dislikes (mostly on the Eero system): 1. No separation of 2/5ghz WiFi channels of the Eero device. Even when you switch off the 5ghz temporary, some devices do not like that option. 2. Eero device has no ability to configure or monitor via a web URL.. you must use the app. I don't like this at all as when I am in front of my PC I can check the Ring alarm system and its settings.. why not have one for the Eero too? 3. Only 1 Ethernet port on the Eero switch. That is NOT good.. You cannot get your true internet speed you pay for with WIFI and if you have devices you wish to hard-wire, you only choice is to by another switch to expand it. 4. Stick and no forgiveness. I placed a door sensor too close to the frame and now when we open and close the slider it jars the cover for the battery sensor and it becomes troubled.. So my options are to either deal with it .. or buy another sensor.. since they give you no spare adhesive pads. 5. Gotcha on monthly fees for saving video to cloud (if you buy cameras) $20.00 a month may not sound like alot .. but that is why the system is cheaper.. so get you coming and going forever. 6. Neighborhood app.. Uggg. check the internet.. it is buggy and broken most of the time. If you want to use it.. better start working on it prior to installing your system One other observation.. Do NOT buy the optional battery packs... You are much better off buying a good UPS that the Ring system will plug into thereby giving you a battery backup and a surge protector ast the same time.. and it actually being cheaper. Just my take.. Close to perfect, but not there yet.

Reliability, features, safety
Awful alarm system. Often try to alarm but says no connection wifi or mobile. But it will allow me to connect to other features. Motion sensors will randomly show not active. I will most likely rap it to a loss with all that I bought and go with something else. It's just so unreliable for security. Update 03/01 Continues to disappoint. Get notification at 2:30am someone at the door. Check phone notification, the only thing that shows is at 4:45pm. I go live and see someone is there. Food delivery to wrong address. I'm watching him live to see he leaves and he's just standing there. I get out of live and go back in and he's not there. Live view froze. What an unreliable alarm system. Update 11/19 Get many false 'someone is in backyard'. Doesn't matter how I adjust the settings. Not motion, but someone. Most likely tree leaves, light variation, rabbits, etc. Everytime I check... Nothing. Disarm or arm system from keypad sometimes doesn't work. Pad will display wifi connection icon in red but won't respond to command. Sometimes it's delayed and than it does it. Tonight, wouldn't arm. Used the app and armed right away. Might be a eero issue. Not sure but other notifications are also delayed by about 2 to 4 minutes. Not good when it comes to a security system. Shocked that I'm having so many issues with an Amazon product. They should probably not integrate eero in the alarm system. Eero acts up, effects something that's serious for security. Amazon, hope you're getting all of this and appreciate the feedback and correcting all these serious issues with your security system. No excuse for all the issues I've noted. Update 10/15 No notification as to motion sensor battery is low. When you arm the system it notifies you one sensor has to be bypassed. If you're out of town, you can't do anything until you get home. Security half baked. Uodate 9/17 Critical issue. Having had so many issues with the first Ring alarm base unit they sent me a replacement. Couldn't connect my eero extenders. De-registered them, reset them but still wouldn't connect. Had to call customer support to get it to connect. Going to bed I armed the unit. Next day I went in the app to adjust setting on the motion sensors that I had re-entered in the new unit and couldn't find any. It appears that when the tech reset the eero extenders, they resit the base station as well. Not only is that a serious problem because it wiped away my sensors, but the alarm system will show armed without any sensors leaving one to believe they are protected without any sensors installed. Shocking that support would not know what they had you do, deletes your sensors and inform you. Additionally, the alarm system would show armed when there's no sensors installed. Ring how about: If there's no sensors and someone tries to arm system alert that there's no sensors installed and do not arm system. Also, better training for customer support. Update 8/24. Come home around 2 am. Check my phone to see if system is armed to disarm it. Shows not armed. I go in and alarm goes off and wakes everyone up. Also, low batteries will set alarm off. Worst alarm system that I've ever had. It's not thought out very well and can cause many issues. Very, very lacking in design to address these issues. Surprising given that Amazon owns it and they can't address these issues. Amazon, take your alarm business seriously and address these simple issues that most reputable alarm systems don't have. Update 8/19. The only place I was notified of an alarm event was via email. No calls, nothing on event history. Also the email says triggered by "Entry". The option on the alarm notification email for support takes you to a tutorial page to learn about the system. What a joke. Doesn't even give central monitoring or Ring customer support. Clearly Amazon is gotten too big to provide decent support and/or be attentive to their product design. Ring alarm system is clearly becoming a system you can not count on. New event 8/19: Alarm goes off 6 am. Was asleep so didn't check why and shut off for a few minutes. No notification as to why and event history doesn't show it went off. Central monitoring didn't call. Clearly bogus trigger. System and monitoring didn't recognize it going off but it did and woke me up on a Saturday at 6 am. Not a solid alarm system like my previous one unfortunately. Ring, get your act together. It's not very well thought out. Could cause unexpected intrusion. Won't notify you when there's a malfunction with any of the components. You'll find out when you happen to get into that for setup or whatever. Than you'll know a sensor isn't working or your door lock isn't responding. After you fix the problem, it doesn't update right away. It'll still show an issue. Found out a motion sensor isn't working because I went in to the device menue. Replaced the batteries and put the sensor back in place. System states tamper. Yeah, tamper was because I needed to replace the batteries. Which it never notifies me, I just came across it. But now it's stuck on tamper even though I replaced the batteries and put it back in place. Same with the front door lock. I stumbled across the lock isn't communicating. No warning the battery is low. Replaced the batteries. I can unlock it and lock it. But the status is battery low. Surprising those simple issues ring/Amazon hasn't addressed. Maybe when something serious happens because of their negligence and get sued they will take it more serious that they are in the business of home security which is critical for safety.

Finally a good system!!
I've searched high and low for security system that would work with my smart home system. I've tried everything from vivint, brinks, adt, cove, and even a makeshift one with different manufacturers that work with z-wave. I haven't found one that seamlessly works into a smart home. Until I found this item. Holy crap, this integrates with everything it seems. From the smart door lock, to thermostats, to lighting, including smoked and co2, all wrapped up in a nice security bundle, which even has its own internet. I think I finally found my security system
